Here’s your new musical obsession. AMC has released the first full trailer for The Vampire Lestat, the third season of the network’s acclaimed acclaimed TV version of Anne Rice‘s seminal Interview With a Vampire books. This latest installment shifts the focus from Jacob Anderson‘s Louis de Pointe du Lac to Sam Reid‘s Lestat de Lioncourt, who has remade himself as a glam rock icon in the… uh, vein of David Bowie.
“I am the Vampire Lestat — it’s my era,” Reid says in the two-minute clip. “I’m a rock star now.” His turn towards music stardom is the direct result of his former lover’s decision to share their story with journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Borgosion). But the fame also goes to his already-swollen head as he proclaims himself an emerging deity. But as book reader know all too well, he’s on track to meet a real goddess as the show enters Queen of the Damned territory.

What is The Vampire Lestat about?
Adapted from the second volume in Rice’s much-loved Vampire Chronicles, Season 3 finds Lestat living the road life on a big music tour. Along the way, he meets some of the “muses” from his long history and also brings new fans into his ever-expanding coven. But lurking is the Great Conversion — a rise in the number of vampires on the planet, which is cause for concern among the bloodsucker ranks.
Who else is involved?
Besides Reid, Anderson, and Bogosian, Assad Zaman is back as the vampire Armand. Also expect to see more of Delainey Hayles’s Claudia, despite her tragic fate last season. Additionally, Jennifer Ehle joins the cast as Gabriella de Lioncourt, Lestat’s mommy dearest. Behind the camera, the returning list of executive producers include creator, writer and showrunner Rolin Jones, as well as Mark Johnson, Hannah Moscovitch and Christopher Rice.
What are its awards prospects?
Despite being beloved by fans, Interview With a Vampire hasn’t factored into the Primetime Emmys in a major way. Season 2 received two nominations in the hairstyling and makeup categories. But songs like “Long Face” could make Lestat competitive in the music categories… and maybe even the Grammys.
When can I see it?
The Vampire Lestat premieres in June on AMC+ and AMC.
