Reba’s delightful new sitcom just became one of the most popular shows on Netflix

While Netflix makes sure our watch lists are constantly stocked with the latest seasons of hit original series and exciting new shows we can’t wait to binge-watch, we can’t help but hope for even more content. That’s why it’s thrilling to scroll through the many, many titles and land on something totally new—whether literally or just to you. Right now, Reba McEntire’s new show is bringing the laughs.

The NBC sitcom Happy’s Place arrived on Netflix in the United States on April Fool’s Day, along with the broadcast network’s fellow hit comedy St. Denis Medical. Both shows, which are currently preparing to wrap up their second seasons on NBC, dropped their first seasons on Netflix. While they are equally worth watching, one has already made quite the splash on the streamer.

Happy’s Place makes immediate debut in the Netflix Top 10

Just a few days after dropping on Netflix, Happy’s Place entered the daily Top 10 most watched shows on Netflix chart at the No. 9 position. Hopefully, the sitcom won’t drop off the ranking and will only climb higher as more and more new viewers start binge-watching the show. The first season boasts a whopping 18 episodes, a tall order on Netflix, which should keep fans in laughter all weekend long.

It’s no surprise that Happy’s Place found almost immediate success on Netflix. Even as a multi-cam sitcom with laughter from the live studio audience, series star and cultural icon Reba McEntire remains a real draw. When her widely beloved 2000s sitcom Reba made its way to Netflix in May 2024, almost two years ago now, the series experienced a resurgence in popularity.

Reba’s addition to Netflix and renaissance thanks to Netflix coincided with the premiere of Happy’s Place on NBC in October 2024, making her sitcom comeback all the more exciting and highly anticipated. Thankfully, the series won Reba fans over big time, and it wasn’t even only because McEntire reunites fellow Reba star Melissa Peterman.

Happy’s Place, which takes place in the titular bar, features the same biting humor and effusive heart that made Reba a timeless classic. What begins as a story of grief over the loss of a parent turns into a humorous tale of long-lost half-sisters with a wide age gap meeting for the first time and navigating the complicated journey of not only becoming family but also becoming business partners.

That’s the kind of comedy that McEntire has done so well, and Happy’s Place feels like a real extension of Reba. Across the first two seasons, McEntire and Peterman have also reunited with a number of their former co-stars and on-screen family members, so far welcoming Steve Howey, Christopher Rich, and JoAnna Garcia Swisher as guest stars.

If you haven’t started binge-watching Happy’s Place on Netflix, get into it! If you have, the second season is available to stream on Peacock and will hopefully find its way to Netflix before the end of the year (fingers crossed!). NBC has already renewed the sitcom for season 3 ahead of the season 2 finale on April 24, ensuring another hilarious season will be back this fall.
