The competition officially begins on MasterChef: Global Gauntlet.
After weeks of auditions and white apron battles, the Top 20 home cooks enter the kitchen together for the first challenge of the season in Wednesday’s “Game Day Gourmet” episode. Representing four global territories — Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Americas — the chefs are now officially competing for the MasterChef title, trophy, and $250,000 grand prize.
For their first challenge, Gordon Ramsay, Tiffany Derry, and Joe Bastianich task the cooks with reinventing stadium food through the lens of their culture and heritage. The World Cup-inspired challenge calls for elevated game-day dishes that showcase the flavors of each territory, with Tiffany encouraging the chefs to create something authentic to where they come from.
Although the cooks are competing alongside members of their region during this phase of the competition, each chef is still responsible for their own individual dish.
The judges will taste the top plate from each territory, and the home cook behind the best dish overall will earn the season’s first immunity pin — keeping themselves safe in the next challenge while also protecting their entire region from elimination tonight.
That leaves the remaining territories vulnerable. After tasting the weakest dishes from the losing teams, the judges will eliminate one home cook from the competition.
With just 60 minutes on the clock, the kitchen quickly erupts into chaos as the chefs race to balance creativity, technique, and cultural pride in the season’s first challenge.

Top Dishes
When time expires, the judges walk through the kitchen for a closer look at the dishes before selecting the top plate from each territory. Below were the standout dishes.
Aishu (Team Asia-Pacific)
Dish: South Indian Potato Bonda with Coconut Chutney and Cilantro Mint Chutney
Gordon: “Delicious. You’ve got it absolutely nailed. You’re on the money.”
Tiffany: “It is a snack that I would gladly indulge in.”
Joe: “I like the coconut chutney, but the core of the dish is that fine balance between sweet and savory.”
Aghata (Team Europe)
Dish: Spanish Potato Tortilla with Caramelized Onions & Red Pepper Aioli
Gordon: “Be careful with aioli, because once you’ve got prosciutto on top it goes soggy — but you’ve done well.”
Tiffany: “The potatoes are perfectly cooked. It looks unassuming, but flavor-wise it’s banging.”
Joe: “You elevated in the subtlety of the technique and the execution. Well done.”
Peter (Team Africa)
Dish: Yaji-Spiced Chicken Tenders with Fries, Maggi Ketchup Aioli, and Creamy Mustard Sauce
Gordon: “Chicken tenders are delicious … but it’s the two sauces that really help elevate this.”
Tiffany: “I love the look of everything. It definitely feels elevated.”
Joe: “It courageous to do something very simple and execute it at a high level. It’s all top-level.”
Tkaiya (Team Americas)
Dish: Jamaican Beef Patty with Cabbage & Carrot Slaw, Cheddar Mornay Sauce, and Barbecue Sauce
Gordon: “There’s a lot of work that’s gone into this. The spice is absolutely delicious. Kudos.”
Tiffany: “I love that they are golden brown and that crust looks proper.”
Joe: “It could have used more filling, but the crust is so good I didn’t even mind.”
Winner
The winner of this challenge is Aishu. She will have immunity in the next challenge and the entire Asia-Pacific team is safe from tonight’s elimination.

Bottom Dishes
Julia (Team Europe)
Dish: Loaded Crispy Polenta Fries with Blue Cheese Mousse, Candied Pancetta, and Fig Coulis
Gordon: “The flavor of the polenta is delicious. It’s the poor execution with burned pancetta at the end.”
Tiffany: “I don’t fully see the vision. The mousse is over-whipped. You can’t just put that on a plate.”
Joe: “I understand the concept, but the polenta fries look undercooked. The pancetta looks burnt. The execution fell short on every level.”
Jake (Team Americas)
Dish: Filet Mignon with Birria Consommé, Cotija Corn Purée, and Birria Tortilla Chips.
Gordon: “Everything’s very dark on the plate. It does not look as appetizing as it sounds.”
Tiffany: “You cannot afford to not make a perfect steak. You’re putting time into sauces — you need to put that time back into the protein.”
Joe: “We love your ideas, but you can’t have big ideas and trip over all the details.”
Nora (Team Africa)
Dish: Haddock & Maakouda Sandwich with Chermoula Mayo and Mediterranean Salad
Gordon: “You’re trying to get us to take a bite of this sandwich. Our mouths aren’t that wide. Does it come with an instruction book?”
Tiffany: “Hold on — is this a Band-Aid?” After discovering a bandage in the sandwich, Tiffany chokes and says, “I’m done.”
Joe: “The deconstruction of the dish literally deconstructs the dish. It doesn’t make sense.”
Elimination
There’s really nothing worse than accidentally serving the judges a used Band-Aid in your sandwich. “That’s about as gross as it gets,” Joe says of Nora’s unappetizing dish. There isn’t much debate this week, and Nora is eliminated from the competition.

Exiting the competition Nora says, “I served a bandage to Gordon Ramsay — what do I expect? Beyond the bandage, I was not satisfied with how I executed the dish, but I’m still proud of myself.”
Next Time
The first Mystery Box of the season is tougher than it looks. And Aishu uses her advantage to “start knocking down enemies.”
