Live television streaming service Fubo has implemented significant price increases across its plans as it completes the addition of NBC channels to its lineup. The change was quietly posted on Fubo’s website and spotted by PCWorld and is a big price hike up to $15 a month. The adjustments reflect the return of key programming that had been unavailable for several months, prompting subscribers to reassess whether the service remains competitive in a crowded market of cord-cutting options.
The company, which focuses heavily on sports content, quietly updated its pricing in a support document on its website. Base packages have risen by up to $15 per month, while the more targeted sports-oriented plan increased by $9 monthly. Regional sports fees have also climbed in select major markets, pushing total costs for many users well above $100 per month when combined with the new base rates. This marks a reversal from earlier adjustments when Fubo had lowered prices after temporarily dropping NBC affiliations.
Under the updated structure, the Fubo Essential, Pro, or Core plan now costs $88.99 monthly plus any applicable regional fees. Higher tiers such as Elite or Ultra reach $98.99, with Ultimate and Deluxe plans climbing to $113.99 and $118.99 respectively. The dedicated Fubo Sports package, designed for enthusiasts seeking core athletic programming without broader entertainment channels, has moved to $64.99 per month. In markets including Boston, Philadelphia, and northern California, where NBC regional sports networks are available, additional fees of $16 apply, while other areas see charges between $13 and $17. These fees continue to appear only during the final checkout process rather than on initial promotional pages.
For viewers prioritizing regional sports coverage, the decision becomes more nuanced. DirecTV Choice represents the primary alternative with extensive regional options, though its base rate starts higher at $95 before fees that can range from $8 to $24 depending on location. Fubo maintains a slight edge in base pricing for such packages and benefits from NBCSN, which carries certain live events not easily accessible elsewhere without a separate Peacock subscription. Still, it lacks some widely desired national sports channels found in competitors.
Sports fans have increasingly explored standalone team streaming services for major leagues, particularly MLB, with similar options expected for NBA and NHL seasons. Pairing these direct offerings with a more affordable general streaming package or even relying solely on them can yield substantial savings for dedicated followers of specific teams.
Fubo retains strengths that appeal to certain users. The platform features a clean, intuitive interface, straightforward digital video recorder functionality, and multiview capabilities on devices such as Roku and Apple TV, allowing simultaneous viewing of multiple events. These elements provide a polished experience that some subscribers value highly for sports-heavy viewing habits.
Consumers affected by the hikes should review their specific channel needs, local availability of regional networks, and overall budget. In many scenarios, switching providers or supplementing with targeted sports apps may prove more economical. As the streaming landscape evolves with frequent price adjustments and content realignments, careful comparison shopping remains essential for households seeking to balance access, cost, and convenience in live television options.
