The safety nets are officially gone.
For the first time this season on Next Level Chef, the chefs are no longer cooking as teams — and that changes everything. In the “In-Season Tournament” episode, Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington, and Richard Blais send the chefs into a new format where every round is make-or-break.
To stay in the competition, chefs must survive a brutal three-round gauntlet: deliver the best dish on the Top Level and you’re safe. Miss the mark, and it’s down to the Middle Kitchen for another shot. Fall short again, and the Basement becomes one last do-or-die battle for survival.
With no teammates left to lean on and no coach stepping in to save anyone, every decision matters. One bad grab, one missed cook, or one poorly executed plate could send a front-runner home. Read on for our full recap of “The In-Season Tournament.”

The Challenge

With the teams now dissolved, the remaining eight chefs face the competition’s biggest twist yet: the In-Season Tournament.
All eight start on the Top Level for a high-pressure 30-minute cook, with the strongest dishes earning the right to begin next week on the top floor. The chefs who miss the cut drop to the Middle Kitchen for a second round with just 25 minutes to fight for their place.
From there, the remaining cooks head to the Basement for one final 20-minute survival cook, where one chef will be sent home.
Top Level Winners

Gabrielle and Andy deliver the two standout dishes in Round 1, earning the right to start next week on the Top Level.
Gabrielle impresses the judges with her sesame-crusted toro tataki served with beets and a sesame ginger sauce, while Andy’s crispy-skinned duck breast in a cherry-grapefruit sauce over purée also lands at the top of the pack. With their spots secured, they get to sit out the rest of the episode while the remaining six chefs continue cooking for survival.
Middle Level Winners
Christian, Darian, and Connor rise to the occasion in the Middle Kitchen, doing enough to keep themselves out of danger.

Christian earns praise for his cheesy polenta with pan-roasted chicken breast, caramelized summer squash, and crispy potatoes. Darian also advances with a pan-roasted cod served alongside charred corn relish and crispy potatoes, while Connor locks in his safety with a seared salmon featuring apricot chutney and apple slaw.

Their strong dishes send them safely through, leaving the remaining chefs to battle it out in the Basement.
Basement Winners
Cole and Danielle survive the Basement round and keep their competition dreams alive.

Cole earns high marks for his French-inspired frog legs, dredged in a buttermilk marinade and served over grits with a Creole tomato stew. Danielle also cooks her way to safety with a Peruvian-style chicken and rice dish finished with a vibrant herb sauce.
Their successful plates send them through, leaving the final elimination decision to the judges.
Elimination
Jared is ultimately sent home after falling just short in the Basement round.

The 38-year-old home chef from Grand Rapids presents a crispy cod carbonara finished with a raw egg — a dish Gordon Ramsay says was exceptional. “There wasn’t anything wrong,” Gordon tells him, reassuring the former NFL player that the margins were simply razor-thin and the other two dishes edged him out.
Richard also offers heartfelt praise, telling Jared he was honored to have him in the competition. Jared leaves with his head held high, calling the experience “the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Next time
Next week, the competition turns its focus to one of the oldest and most beloved foods in the world: noodles.
With the field growing tighter, tensions also begin to boil over, as Christian and Darian clash over duck in what looks to be another intense battle inside the Next Level kitchen.
