Gold Derby is serving up Big Brother 28 spoilers all summer long. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Heading into the eighth eviction episode of Big Brother on Sept. 3, Rick Devens agreed to be nominated as a pawn after Veto winner Yash Patel removed himself from the block. Head of Household Drew Campbell took the Survivor player up on his offer, nominating him alongside LaTrice “Lala” Verrett and Taylor Brown. Devens may believe he’s safe but, as we know, pawns often go home on Big Brother.
Let’s break down the key highlights from Thursday night, from the Block Buster to the live eviction, beginning with:
ALL ABOUT BARRETT
Barrett Pfeiffer has been working with Devens since the first week in the Crossovers alliance, along with Drew, Angela Murray, and Dee Valladares. But Barrett knows that if he wants to win Big Brother, he’ll need to make a big move. He has been hinting for days that he’s willing to vote Devens out, presuming Devens doesn’t win the Block Buster. We’ll find out soon enough whether the Texas-based Jumbotron engineer has the guts to go against the Survivor legend.
BLOCK BUSTER
In a classic competition, Devens, Lala, and Taylor have to jump into ball pits to retrieve spheres, and then drop them into plastic tubes over a ledge. The first person to stack four spheres wins. Devens starts out strong, but Taylor soon catches up to him, making it a true nail-biter. In the end, Devens ekes out a victory, earning himself safety from tonight’s live eviction. Speaking of which …
LIVE EVICTION
With Devens safe, the Crossovers alliance survives another week intact — though not without getting a few internal bruises. Meanwhile, it’s time for the live vote, where six people are called into the Diary Room to oust a houseguest. Four players vote to evict Lala (Barrett, Dee, Devens, and Yash), and two vote to evict Taylor (Angela and Melody). Thus, Lala leaves the game and meets her “sister from another mister,” Julie Chen Moonves. On her way out the door, Lala hugs Taylor and tells her, “Do good, OK? Do good. You got this.”
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
The next Head of Household competition will take place Friday night in the backyard. Everyone but Drew is eligible to compete. We will update this article as soon as the ninth HOH is crowned.
