Charles Leclerc returned to the top step in Formula 1 for the first time in nearly two years!
The 28-year-old Monegasque F1 driver took first place in the 2026 Pirelli British Grand Prix on Sunday (July 5) at Silverstone Circuit in Northampton, England.
This marks Charles‘ first win since the Austin Grand Prix in October 2024, and it is also the 250th win for his team, Scuderia Ferrari HP!
Joining Charles on the podium were Mercedes’ George Russell in second and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton in third place.
Charles started the race in second and was able to advance to first at the race start, leading for much of the race. Towards the end, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli was in second, gaining time on Charles and was on track to fight for first place before encountering a problem with his car, which allowed Charles to not have to fight for the win.
The race ended under the Safety Car after Max Verstappen crashed out on lap 48.
This is also Charles‘ first win at Silverstone, and his ninth win overall since joining the sport in 2018. He was also voted Driver of the Day!

After the race, Charles reflected on his big win!
“It feels incredible. Unfortunately the end was maybe not the one I will have dreamt of, but to win after the last few weekends that have been particularly difficult, all the work that we put into trying to get the feeling back in the car.”

Today’s win brings Charles back to fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship, with his 2026 total now at 108 points. With the double podium, Ferrari is sitting in second in the Constructors’ Championship with 255 points, behind Mercedes with 333.
