During the Sunday, April 12, episode of the HBO show, Rue (Zendaya) spoke with Lexi (Maude Apatow) about getting in contact with Fez. It was then mentioned that Fez was serving 30 years behind bars after the season 2 finale ended with him seemingly getting arrested. Euphoria is lurid, overheated, violent, fetishistic, hyper-stylized, cynical, sentimental, melodramatic, druggy dirtbag action trash, so of course I love it. But it’s not hard to see why this has come to be the position of an increasingly beleaguered minority. Even putting aside the show’s lengthy-for-a-million-reasons absence from screens and writer-director-creator Sam Levinson’s “where there’s smoke, there’s…well, there’s smoke” air of disreputability, one need look no further than Stranger Things to see how critical fortunes can shift when the stars of a high-school drama age up. That show still at least pretended to be set during high school. What is Euphoria…

Illustration by What’s on Netflix As we look towards the middle of the year, we arrive at May 2026, and Netflix is once again clearing out its library to make room for a fresh batch of new releases. Unfortunately, a new month means saying goodbye to a massive lineup of beloved movies and binge-worthy shows. The first of the month is taking a particularly heavy toll on the US library, with blockbuster franchises like Mission: Impossible (after just a single month) and Jaws packing their bags,…
For The Comeback newcomer Julian Stern, landing his first television role meant stepping into one of TV’s most meta worlds — and doing it opposite his real-life mom, Lisa Kudrow. But long before he was sharing scenes with Valerie Cherish, he was just a kid eyeing one very specific piece of hardware in the house. “Let me tell you something,” Stern says with a laugh. “It’s on the second shelf. … I couldn’t reach it, but I would try to because it looked like the coolest action figure I had ever seen.” That would be the Emmy Kudrow won for…
In October 2018, the American Pie star announced he was one year sober in a celebratory and encouraging Instagram post. “I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle,” he wrote at the time. “Turns out this s–t is hard.” He continued, “After some fits and starts, I’ve managed to put together one year of sobriety. I’m as proud of it as anything in my life. If you’re struggling, know there’s help. Don’t be ashamed. We can do this.” Years later, he reflected…
Steven Spielberg Put His Foot Down and Refused to Make a Sequel to This Beloved Classic
When it comes to the best movies of the 1980s, there are few films more beloved than E.T. Brimming with adventure, heart, and one of cinema’s greatest friendships, the movie remains among the most special of director Steven Spielberg’s career. Additionally, the picture was a massive box office and merchandising success, so it only seemed natural that Universal would pursue a sequel. Of course, such a follow-up never came to pass, thanks to Spielberg himself, though the director is set to deliver another sci-fi film focused on aliens with Dislcosure Day in June. While most studio directors would love to…

In Beast, Australian director Tyler Atkins (Boasch & Rockit, aka Ocean Boy) sets out to do something more ambitious than simply stage bone-crunching fight sequences. His debut feature in the MMA arena is as much about family, identity and masculinity as it is about survival inside the cage. Shot across between Australia and Thailand, Beast pairs visceral action with an emotional core anchored by a working-class fighter torn between who he is and who he’s expected to be. With Russell Crowe lending gravitas as a battle-hardened trainer (Sammy) and Daniel MacPherson embodying the conflicted fighter (Patton James) at its centre,…
