By order of the Peaky Blinders, the Shelbys are back — and this time, they’re bringing a whole new generation to the fight.
Netflix has announced a sequel series to the hit crime drama, set a decade after World War II in a post-blitz Birmingham racing to rebuild itself. Steven Knight, who created the original series, returns as writer. Two six-episode seasons have been ordered.

Who’s in the cast
Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Industry) will play Charles Shelby, the younger son of Tommy Shelby. Having fought behind enemy lines during the war, Charles has come home determined to leave the Peaky Blinders behind entirely — but can you escape your own blood?
Jamie Bell (Half Man, Rocketman) steps into the role of Duke Shelby, Tommy’s older son. Duke was previously played by Barry Keoghan in the film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, now streaming on Netflix. Older, wiser, more ambitious — and most certainly more dangerous.
Also joining the cast: Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey, Harlots), Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die, The Day of the Jackal), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic) in her television debut.
Knight says: “We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have Charlie Heaton also leading the cast as Tommy’s youngest son, Charles Shelby. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.”

The plot
Set in 1950s Birmingham, the sequel finds a city clawing its way back from the rubble of the Blitz — and the race to own that reconstruction becomes, according to Netflix, “a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.” Duke Shelby is at the bloody center of it all. Charles, meanwhile, hasn’t seen his half-brother in years, having cut off all ties to the gang and the Shelby lifestyle. Whether that separation holds is, of course, the question.
Who’s behind the camera
The sequel is written and created by Knight, and produced by Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders Seasons 1–6, The Immortal Man) for the BBC in the U.K. and Netflix internationally. It is currently filming in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.
How to watch
All six seasons of the original Peaky Blinders and the follow-up film The Immortal Man are streaming now on Netflix. No premiere date has been announced for the sequel series yet — check back for updates.
Awards prospects
The original Peaky Blinders was no stranger to awards attention, earning five BAFTA nominations over its run and winning Best Drama Series in 2018. The British production was never up for Emmys and Netflix did not submit The Immortal Man for Emmy consideration this year.
