MasterChef: Global Gauntlet is back — and this time, the sweet stuff turns bitter fast.
After a six-week hiatus for the FIFA World Cup, MasterChef: Global Gauntlet returns with its second Mystery Box challenge of the season — and a chocolate-heavy heritage bake that proves not everyone can handle the heat of the oven. Some cooks melt under the pressure in the “Bitter Sweet Mystery Box” episode, and with a double elimination on the table, safety has never mattered more.
The Challenge
Team Asia-Pacific walks in as the only territory with all five original members still standing. When the Top 16 lift the lids on their second Mystery Boxes of the season, they find chocolate in various forms — and their first baking challenge of the competition. The home cooks have 75 minutes to create a “stunning” dessert that could only come from their homeland.
Watching from the balcony is Jaime, who earned the vantage point by winning the last challenge. Her win comes with a built-in advantage: she can add five minutes to one territory’s clock and take five minutes from another. She adds time to Asia-Pacific — no surprise there — and puts Africa at a disadvantage, stripping five minutes from their clock.
Gordon delivers one more gut-punch before the cooking begins: tonight is a double elimination.
Top Dishes
Shompa (Asia-Pacific)
Dish: Chocolate Chai Biscuit Cake with Spiced Chantilly Cream, Ganache, Jaggery Caramel, and Pistachio Cookie Crumble
Gordon: “It’s delicious. The only thing I would change is — less cream.”
Tiffany: “You have a way of making spices sing.”
Joe: “It’s technically done well. Very cool dessert.”
Julia (Europe)
Dish: Sicilian Chocolate Ricotta Cake with Chocolate Almond Bark and Orange Pastry Cream
Gordon: “Delicious. Well done.”
Tiffany: “I love everything that’s on the plate.”
Joe: “You used each iconic Sicilian ingredient efficiently.”
Rita (Africa)
Dish: Chocolate Puff Puff with Plantain Cream Filling, Spicy Peanut Crumble, Raspberry Coulis, and Chocolate Ganache
Gordon: “They taste like the most glamorous donuts I’ve ever had in my mouth.”
Tiffany: “This is definitely elevated.”
Joe: “This dessert is eye-opening. I’ve never had anything quite like it.”
Jake (Americas)
Dish: Champurrado Cake with Chili Chocolate Mousse, Masa Harina Cocoa Crumble, Passion Fruit Sabayon, and White Chocolate Miso Ganache
Gordon: “There are so many things happening here. It’s delicious.”
Tiffany: “I’m not sure anybody else could have pulled this off.”
Joe: “You’re like a man of science. Bravo!”
Winner
The winner of this challenge is Julia. She will have immunity in the next challenge and the entire Europe team is safe from tonight’s elimination.

Bottom Dishes
Daniel (Asia Pacific)
Dish: Five Spice Brownie with Black Sesame Cream, Lemon Caramel, and Black Vinegar Cherries
Gordon: “I’m disappointed with you. It looks like a brownie from a bake sale.”
Tiffany: “You have a very intense chocolate brownie. I want more of a balanced dessert.”
Joe: “You don’t follow the rules. You bear the consequences of those actions.”
Peter (Africa)
Dish: Deconstructed Chocolate Cake with Coconut Shuk-Shuk, Coconut Chantilly Cream, and Raspberry Coulis
Gordon: “It looks unfinished. It needs more cake!”
Tiffany: “I don’t think you executed this the way that you should have…you garnished this plate. Everything else is a bit too much.”
Joe: “Thank you.”
Britny (Americas)
Dish: Chocolate Bajan Black Cake with Rum Caramel Sauce, Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream, and Chocolate Ganache
Gordon: “It’s dry. It’s such a shame — it needs that punch of rum.”
Tiffany: “We know exactly what it should taste like. The sauce isn’t helping.”
Joe: “It’s really too bad. I’d love to taste some rum and, quite frankly, you played it all wrong.”
Elimination
The judges decided to eliminate Britny and Daniel from the competition.

“I’m so disappointed in myself,” Daniel said before exiting the kitchen. “There’s so much more Chinese culture I wanted to show. MasterChef is only the beginning.”
Holding back tears, Britny stated, “This was a great experience and I’ll never take that for granted. I hope the Americas take the whole thing and I’m glad that I got to represent Barbados.”
Next Time
The Top 15 take on a brand new challenge — “Wheel of Fusion.” And Julia’s big advantage leads to a shocking twist.
