Looks like Margo has more troubles ahead.
Apple TV announced that the hit comedy Margo’s Got Money Troubles has been renewed for a second season — perfect timing for Emmy consideration. The series, which stars Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, and Nicole Kidman, among others — landed with a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, positioning it well for an awards run. The series hails from legendary showrunner David E. Kelley, who serves as writer and creator; Eva Anderson co-showruns alongside Kelley. This marks the first time Kelley has worked professionally with his wife, Pfeiffer — something he has long joked he would never do.
“‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ was an irresistible proposition to me from day one,” said creator, executive producer and writer David E. Kelley. “I fell in love with Rufi’s world and unpredictable characters, and it’s been rewarding to see audiences embrace this series. We can’t wait to continue this story with our partners at Apple and A24.”
“Embarking on the adventure of bringing Margo to the screen has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” said executive producer and star, Elle Fanning. “When I first read Rufi’s stunning story, it felt wholly original and most importantly human, and then with David’s writing, along with our epic cast of heart-wrenching performances, it truly felt like we had something special. Having the opportunity to bring more of Margo’s troubles, creativity, fearless spirit and authenticity to audiences with a second season, makes me incredibly happy and excited. I can promise everyone they’re in for a wild, messy, and beautiful ride.”
Given the number of award winners attached to this title, it’s no surprise there was a bidding war among the top studios for Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Apple TV ultimately won the series, which is based on the best-selling novel by Rufi Thorpe. The star power in front of and behind the camera is massive, which means expectations are high for this comedic family drama,
Here’s everything you need to know about Margo’s Got Money Troubles:
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

Margo (Fanning) is a college dropout and aspiring writer — and the daughter of an ex-Hooter’s waitress (Pfeiffer) and ex-pro wrestler, Jinx (Offerman) — who must figure out how to make her way with a new baby, a mounting pile of bills, and a dwindling amount of ways to pay them.
As the trailer shows, she turns to OnlyFans to raise money to support herself and the baby. When Jinx tells her, “This is not you,” Margo counters: “My mom worked at Hooters and my father was a pro wrestler — tell me what’s me.”
WHO’S IN THE CAST?

Along with Fanning, Kidman, Pfeiffer, and Offerman, the series also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano, Rico Nasty, and Lindsey Normington.
WHO’S ON THE CREATIVE TEAM?
Kelley serves as showrunner and writer, and executive produces alongside Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures; Kidman and Per Saari of Blossom Films; and Matthew Tinker for David E. Kelley Productions. Pfeiffer, Thorpe, Eva Anderson and Boo Killebrew also executive produce. Directors include Dearbhla Walsh, Kate Herron, and Alice Seabright.
WHEN CAN I SEE IT?
The eight-episode drama debuted on Apple TV on April 15 with three episodes, followed by new installments every Wednesday through May 20.
WHAT ARE ITS AWARDS CHANCES?

With a premiere date of mid-April, Apple TV clearly has high hopes for Margo‘s awards chances — not to mention the auspices of its cast and creative team. While much will depend on execution, voters are likely to be drawn to the long-awaited husband-and-wife pairing of Kelley-and-Pfeiffer, as well as Pfeiffer’s return to series work. Kidman, Fanning, and Offerman are all Emmy favorites, with a strong track record with the TV Academy.
