Tyler Perry’s hit drama Beauty in Black is officially returning for a fourth season! After Netflix initially announced that the third season would be the show’s swan song, a surprise reversal this summer paved the way for even more drama. Now, we have a first look at the production schedule for the highly anticipated fourth outing. Here’s everything we know so far about Beauty in Black season 4.

Fans of the soapy drama were thrilled earlier this year when Netflix walked back its previous cancellation. As we covered back in July, Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black picked up an unexpected Season 4 renewal, rescuing the Bellarie family drama from what was supposed to be a definitive ending.

Now that the dust has settled on the renewal—and fans are actively bingeing the latest batch of episodes, which was notably less than prior seasons—the wheels are already in motion to get the new season onto our screens. Here is the latest on the production status, the show’s incredible viewership data, and when we realistically expect Season 4 to drop on Netflix.

If you are wondering why Netflix decided to suddenly un-cancel the series, look no further than the show’s jaw-dropping viewership numbers.

When looking at the engagement data via our Top 10 Title Search tool, it’s easy to see why the streamer couldn’t let it go. The series has officially surpassed 1 billion viewing hours across its first two seasons (1.048 billion, to be exact!), equating to over 104 million views. Season 1 was a certified global juggernaut, spending seven weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 and reaching the #1 spot in an impressive 28 countries. Season 2 proved the audience was incredibly sticky, spending an additional six weeks in the Global Top 10 and securing #1 in 17 countries.

The momentum hasn’t slowed down, either. Shortly after the renewal news broke, Season 3 set a surprise imminent release date and dropped on August 27th, 2026. Unsurprisingly, it immediately rocked the charts, debuting at #2 on the English TV charts in its opening week alone with a massive 13 million views (81.4 million hours watched). In week 2, it saw a 38% drop in viewing hours but picked up an extra 8M views.

When is Beauty in Black Season 4 filming?

Get ready, because cameras are rolling very soon. According to recent production schedules for Fall 2026, filming for season 4 is currently slated to take place between October 19th and October 30th, 2026.

We’ve also learned that production will be splitting its time between two major locations: Atlanta, Georgia (the usual stomping grounds for Tyler Perry Studios) and Chicago, Illinois. Of course, filming dates and locations are subject to change.

Wait, they are filming an entire season in 11 days?

If an 11-day shoot sounds incredibly brief for a full season of television, remember exactly who is at the helm here. Tyler Perry is well-known in the entertainment industry for his ultra-efficient, lightning-fast production cycles. In fact, it was recently revealed that the entirety of Beauty in Black’s third season was shot in a jaw-dropping six days. Comparatively, an 11-day schedule for season 4 practically gives the cast and crew double the time!

Tyler Perry juggles multiple projects for Netflix at any given time, and we’re told he has at least three projects all filming by the end of 2026!

When will Season 4 release on Netflix?

While Tyler Perry might film at the speed of light, predicting a Netflix release date requires looking at the streamer’s broader global pipeline.

Because production wraps right before Halloween 2026, Tyler Perry’s team could feasibly have post-production finished by December. However, a January or February release is highly unlikely. Netflix is a global platform, which means once a final cut is handed over, it must go through an extensive localization process. Subtitling, dubbing into dozens of languages, and global quality assurance typically add a mandatory 3-to-4-month buffer before a show can premiere.

Furthermore, Netflix likes to carefully space out its tentpole releases to keep subscribers engaged year-round. Given that Season 3 just hit our screens in late August 2026, dropping Season 4 in early winter would risk cannibalizing the show’s own viewership and burning through the content too fast.

Taking all that into account, we predict that Beauty in Black Season 4 will arrive in Spring or Summer 2027—most likely landing somewhere between April and July 2027.

As always, we’ll be updating you with casting news, official synopses, and a confirmed release date as soon as Netflix provides them.
