UPDATE, 2:31 p.m. ET — A judge serving on Massachusetts’ Supreme Judicial Court has just officially denied Clancy’s emergency bid to halt the mistrial ruling, per People and others.

Lindsay Clancy’s closely watched murder trial has ended without a verdict.
On Friday, the jury told Judge William Sullivan that it remained deadlocked in the case involving the deaths of Clancy’s three young children.

In a note to the court on Friday, per People and other media outlets, the jury wrote:
“With a heavy heart, we report we are unable to come to a unanimous decision. We will not be able to.”
Judge Sullivan subsequently declared a mistrial, saying:
“I have no choice but to declare a mistrial.”
However, the case wasn’t formally finalized just yet. At the request of Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, the judge agreed to give the defense an hour to pursue an emergency stay from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
The development follows another dramatic moment in court Thursday, when jurors indicated they were deadlocked and appeared to suggest that one juror was refusing to change their position.
At the time, Reddington asked the judge to remove that juror, but Sullivan declined, saying:
“The note indicates that the juror has acknowledged doubt but refuses to apply it. That note does not indicate that the juror refuses to follow the law.”
The five-week trial centered on a devastating question: Was Clancy criminally responsible for the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan?
Prosecutors argued that Clancy knowingly and intentionally killed the children. Her defense maintained that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and had been overmedicated during a severe psychiatric crisis. Both sides agreed Clancy strangled the children with exercise bands at the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in 2023. Clancy then jumped from a second-story window in an apparent suicide attempt, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.
More than 80 witnesses testified during the trial, which has drawn national attention.
For now, though, after weeks of testimony and deliberation, there is no unanimous answer from the jury.
