With Netflix‘s Crew Girl comes a boat-load of fresh romance and drama, brought on by its central love triangle, and series stars Sam Braun and Kyle Clark might have just the idea for how to determine which of their characters—Josh Regis and Cam Dillinger, respectively—should win over the hearts of fans.
The new YA series, which drops on Netflix on Sept. 10, centers around 16-year-old rower Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau), whose life is turned upside down by a family scandal. After said scandal sends her and her mother (Jessica Paré) all the way from California back to her mother’s Northeast hometown of Eagle’s Cove, Teagan is disheartened to learn that her new school doesn’t have a women’s crew team.
However, she finds her way onto the men’s squad as the team’s coxswain, and ultimately stumbles into a love triangle with two of her teammates: Josh (Braun), the “arrogant team captain,” and Cam (Clark), the “quiet but intensely driven townie,” per Netflix’s synopsis. As you can see in the Crew Girl trailer above, Teagan shares yearn-inducing chemistry with both Josh and Cam, begging the question of who will prevail as they vie for her attention.
When asked by DECIDER if they’re ready for the impending ship wars to come, dividing fans into camps of Team Josh vs. Team Cam, Braun and Clark weighed one potential option for how to settle the score.
“Man, I feel like it’s gonna have to get, like, settled with like an arm wrestle or something. So I gotta get to the gym,” Braun teased.

Clark quipped, ” I do too now. I didn’t know you were looking at it that way. Alright, I gotta go work out! I need to do that.”
Nonetheless, Clark also admitted that he’s “not” ready for the fandom that could emerge from the new YA drama.
“I have no idea the storm that may or may not ensue, I guess though,” he shared.
Martineau, who was sitting between the two actors while chatting with DECIDER, recalled that the cast had arm wrestled on set, prompting Clark to tease that he thought he and Braun had “arm wrestled before.”
Braun asked, “Have we?”
Martineau chimed in, “So who won?”
After neither Braun nor Clark could remember who the alleged winner was, Martineau proposed that they’ll “livestream the next one.”
Clark added, “We’ll livestream the official one, and then the fans can decide.”
Crew Girl hits Netflix on Sept. 10.
