Alimi Ballard is heading to General Hospital!
On Wednesday (September 2), TV Insider announced that the 48-year-old actor has joined the cast of the long-running ABC daytime soap opera.
Alimi will be making his debut as William Baines on Thursday, September 3, however, details around his arrival in Port Charles are being kept under wraps.
Alimi is no stranger to daytime TV. He got his big acting breaking in 1993 playing Frankie Hubbard on Loving before bringing the character over to The City in 1995.
In an interview with Theatre Corner in 2019, Alimi looked back at getting his start on soap operas.

“I got that job in August of 1993, my first, true on-camera series regular,” he said. “It was my first entry into being a real professional actor, the whole audition process.”
Alimi also spoke about working with Debbi Morgan, who played his mother Angie Hubbard on Loving.
“She is just as stunning in person as you would imagine, and she taught me everything I needed to know to get started as an artist,” he explained, “how to prepare you for the level of intensity, the level of dedication required to make these fictional circumstances connect with the audience and I would be in scenes with her sometimes and I would just be like, mouth open, because her range of emotion and a command and access to it would blow me away and I just I fashioned myself to try to come somewhere within the same area code of that level of professionalism and talent.”
After wrapping his soap run in 1996, Alimi went on to playing Quizmaster on Sabrina the Teenage Witch and FBI agent David Sinclair on Numb3rs. He’s also appeared in many other TV shows including Criminal Minds, Queen Sugar, Queen of South, Law & Order, and The Rookie.
If you didn’t see, there have been a lot of major exits on General Hospital so far in 2026.
