The pig seen running loose in West Hollywood has a new home!
Last weekend, a farm animal went viral after it was seen running through the streets of West Hollywood. After the pig was caught and take to the West L.A. Animal Shelter, he was named Wilbur and became an overnight sensation with lots of people wanting to adopt him.
To help him find his new family, the animal shelter held a silent auction and Diane Warren was the highest bidder, becoming Wilbur‘s new mother!
On Thursday (August 20) the 69-year-old Oscar-nominated songwriter got to meet Wilbur at the shelter, and ABC 7 camera were rolling for their first interaction.
“Oh my God. You’re so cute,” Diane said as she came face-to-face with Wilbur for the first time. “Look, you’re gonna have a really good home. What are you doing running around Hollywood like that?”
Marcia Zwilling, who is the managing director of the Diane Warren Foundation, was the one that placed the winning bid for Diane to adopt Wilbur.
“Diane saw the news clips and saw the little pig running in West Hollywood, and she just called me and said, ‘Please get the pig, get the pig!’” Marcia recalled. “‘‘Get the pig. Save the pig.’”
Wilbur‘s new home will be at a seven-acre animal sanctuary in Malibu, and he may be getting a new name, since Diane already has a “Wilbur.”
This is not the first time Diane has rescued an animal in need. In 2021, the Grammy winner saved a cow who made headlines for escaping from a Southern California slaughterhouse. After contacting the city of Pico Rivera, she arranged to have the cow sent to Farm Sanctuary — a nonprofit animal welfare organization with a location in Acton, Calif.
If you didn’t see, Diane spent Easter Sunday earlier this year with longtime friends Britney Spears and Molly Shannon.
