Almost two decades after it aired, cult-classic sitcom Party Down is headed to Netflix, and the series has all the hallmarks worthy of making it a potential big hit in the streamer’s library.

American actor Adam Scott has a pretty esteemed history on Netflix. His first project on the streamer came almost a decade ago in The Most Hated Woman in America (2017). Later that same year, he went on to headline supernatural-comedy Little Evil alongside Evangeline Lily. And most recently, he’ll star alongside Robert De Niro in The Whisper Man, a movie produced by long-time Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

On September 22, 2026, Netflix is adding one of Scott’s earliest, cult-status hits to its United States library. All three seasons of classic Starz sitcom Party Down are coming to the streamer. Netflix had the licence to Party Down years back through its distribution deal with Starz, which ended in 2012. Since then, the show found a new lease of life on platforms like Hulu. Given the hype surrounding Adam Scott thanks to huge roles in Severance, Parks & Recreation, and The Whisper Man, there’s no doubt that it’ll find a large audience waiting for it at Netflix.

What is Party Down about?

Beginning in 2009, Party Down centres around a group of caterers working in a Los Angeles-based company called ‘Party Down’. They balance catering gigs as they juggle with their lives, relationships, and hopes to make it in Hollywood. Each episode sees them working a different catering event — some weirder and more bizarre than others.

Party Down is co-created by Hollywood comedy legend Paul Rudd, who’s (at least more recently) best-known for his role as Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series is also co-created by John Enbom (Only Murders in the Building), Rob Thomas (iZombie), and Dan Etheridge (The Good Doctor).

Operating on a shoestring budget, Party Down was famously filmed episodes that required a minimal production, such as instalments chronicling a corporate picnic and a one-man birthday party. The series lasted for two seasons at Starz before ultimately being cancelled. It later became a cult classic on streaming, notably drawing in viewers at Hulu. It would later be picked up for a final six-episode final season at Starz in 2023, thirteen years after it concluded its second season.

Who is in the cast?

Check out the core cast are below, along with details on each of their characters.

  • Adam Scott (Severance, Parks & Recreation) as Henry Pollard —  an actor who returns to catering at Party Down after his career aspirations take a nosedive.
  • Ken Marino (Wet Hot American Summer) as Ronald Wayne — a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, he is prideful and passionate about his job, perhaps to a fault. He strives for customer satisfaction, and when things go wrong, he’s prone to relapses.
  • Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) as Casey — a love interest of Henry Pollard, Casey is a struggling comedian and actor.
  • Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars) as Kyle Bradway — an actor deluded by believing incoming greatness, Kyle is the front man for the band Karma Rocket.
  • Martin Starr (Silicon Valley) as Roman DeBeers — a screenwriter who works as a caterer at Party Down.

The series is also well-known for numerous guest stars. Some famous faces that also appear include: J.K. Simmons, Kevin Hart, George Takei, Kristen Bell, and Jennifer Garner.
