New details have surfaced following North West’s tour cancellation!
This week, the tour Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 13-year-old daughter had planned with fellow artist Molly Santana was quietly scrapped. Fans noticed multiple shows on ticket-buying apps were removed as Ticketmaster offered a vague explanation:
“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days. Please Note: If the tickets were transferred to you, the refund will go to the fan who originally purchased the tickets from Ticketmaster.”
On Friday, North confirmed she’s no longer going forward with the tour in a message to fans on her Instagram Story:
“I was really excited to go on tour w molly santana sadly it isn’t happening anymore. But I have something special for u guys see ya soon.”

Molly echoed the news, revealing on her own social media:
“To everyone who bought tickets to the tour, I sincerely apologize. I know a lot of you have taken time out of your busy schedules and spent your hard-earned money planning to be there. Nothing makes me more happy than the opportunity to share more amazing memories with you all, and I hope to see you soon. You are all so greatly appreciated and please know that I never take your time or support lightly. I love you so much & I promise I will make this up to you.”
So what happened? Well on Saturday, one source told DailyMail.com “North is disappointed,” while a second blamed her dad Kanye for “letting her even think about a tour.”
“He should have known it was just too early. Now he has to wipe away her tears.”
Oof.
A third source echoed that North “is really sad about this,” but claimed Kanye had “nothing to do with the cancellation” — and that he was actually surprised to learn of it. But according to that source, he’s getting ready to offer her a sweet consolation:
“Ye is going to try and do something to make it up for her. So you may see a small tour with him and North soon.”
A father-daughter tour? That would certainly get a lot of attention!
As for Kim, the source revealed her worries began to grow as the tour got closer and closer:
“Kim and Kanye support their daughter and her dreams in music and were supporting the upcoming tour, but as it got closer to becoming reality, Kim wanted to be a little more hands-on, and know a little more about what was going down. She was worried about her security and her well-being throughout the tour. Also, Kim has been very interested in North still being a kid.”
That’s fair! North has her whole life to make music and go on tours. But she’s only a teen for a short amount of time!
The first source added:
“Kim is very supportive of her daughter who has been working really hard to prepare for her first tour.”
Another contributing factor in the collapse of the tour was apparently North’s co-headliner Molly! The 21-year-old apparently wanted to refocus her energy to “finish her album.”
The third source claimed “it was several factors, but mainly having to do with Molly not being available.”
Some of the other factors could have potentially been money related, though. The second source noted:
“North’s tour was cancelled because there were low ticket sales. They really needed to pack these venues to make a profit because the tour was expensive with a lot of security and travel. Because the economy is hurting, people are spending less money on concerts, a lot of seats are not being filled. And it’s not just North, it is big stars too. The tickets are expensive and so is the parking and the beer and hot dogs, it really adds up, and Americans are now saying no. People will splurge on a Taylor Swift concert ticket, but not for the smaller artists.”
The source also noted North’s young fan base played a role:
“I think North’s fan base is very young, and those young kids can’t buy tickets. Moms don’t want to buy tickets for their kids and take them because it’s not Disney content, it’s not cutesy and innocent, it’s a young girl with piercings and blue hair. So moms don’t want to go there, it’s like no thanks, not for my kid.”
However, another reason could simply be North’s catalogue of songs:
“She also needs more hit songs under her belt before she can fill venues. People go to concerts to hear hit songs.”
Ultimately it sounds like several factors played a role… But as North hinted in her IG post, she has “something special” planned for bummed fans… Maybe it will be that father-daughter tour??
