Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds aren’t happy about Justin Baldoni breaking his two-year silence this week about their It Ends With Us legal battle, but don’t plan on either of them clapping back anytime soon!
If you missed it, the 42-year-old filmmaker, along with his wife Emily Baldoni, took to Instagram on Wednesday to speak about their “healing” journey after suffering “injustice,” “trauma,” and “pain” over the past few years due to his co-star’s sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against him. Justin and Emily received a ton of support in their comments section! However, they won’t find any from Blake or Ryan! We mean, duh! In fact, one insider claimed to Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Friday that the Gossip Girl alum watched the entire video and is now livid at Justin:
“Blake watched every second of the video, and she was absolutely furious. She believes Justin is trying to rewrite history and recast himself as the victim. That’s not how she sees it.”
Although Blake is upset, she has zero plans to respond! Another source said:
“She’s not taking the bait. Blake has no interest in giving this another news cycle. In her mind, the case is over, and she’s determined to keep it that way.”
But the case isn’t totally over, no matter how much Blake wishes it were! The former co-stars are still duking it out over how much money Justin will give to her! Despite Blake walking away from the settlement with nothing, a judge later ordered Justin and his company, Wayfarer Studios, to pay her legal fees, all because of a California law that protects sexual harassment victims from retaliatory defamation claims. However, she won’t receive any punitive and treble damages. Blake has since asked for over $8 million in legal fees, and the judge will now decide how much she’ll get at the end of all this. So, there are some loose ends to tie up! Blake’s not in the clear yet!
Still, she’s mad at Justin resurfacing again. And Ryan is just as angry, too! And the Deadpool actor can’t believe the couple would reopen old wounds when they’ve already moved on! A source explained:
“Ryan is enraged. He thinks Justin is reopening wounds that everyone worked incredibly hard to close. He doesn’t understand why anyone would want to drag this back into the spotlight.”
And while the two debated whether to respond, they ultimately thought their silence (and perhaps a well-timed photo emerging of them looking unbothered) would be more “powerful.” A Hollywood insider shared:
“Justin wants to tell his story. Blake and Ryan believe responding only amplifies his message. They think the most powerful statement they can make is saying nothing.”
Another insider stressed that “Blake has moved on, even if Justin hasn’t.” Well, after two years of silence over the matter, Emily and Justin clearly have a lot they want to get off their chest. They promised fans to share more one day because “there’s so much more to say.” So, Blake may have to suck it up since they may not let this go until their full story is heard.
