Chris Evert has shared some sad news.

On her socials Thursday, the legendary tennis player announced to her followers that her ovarian cancer had heartbreakingly returned. She wrote in the post:

“I have always believed in being open and honest about my health journey. This past weekend, after undergoing CT and PET scans, I learned that my ovarian cancer has returned.”

So sad…

She went on to say that she’s “already undergone surgery as the first step” in getting treatment, and will start up chemo “in the coming weeks.” But because of this development, she’s had to make some changes to her upcoming plans:

“Because of this, I will not be attending Wimbledon this year, and I will step back from my professional commitments over the next few months to focus on my health.”

The 71-year-old sounds pretty positive, though! She continued:

“Ovarian cancer is relentless, but I will stay optimistic and determined in continuing to fight this battle. I am deeply grateful to my medical team, my family, friends, and everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement. I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.”

We’re sending her so much love and healing! We’re happy to see she’s staying positive. See the full post (below):

In case you’re not aware, Chris first revealed she had ovarian cancer in 2021. By 2023, she revealed treatments were successful and in January she was cancer free. Sadly, though, by December of that same year her cancer had come back. She beat it again, but now it’s come back again.

Over 70% of patients with ovarian cancer will experience their cancer coming back, according to My Ovarian Cancer Team.

We wish Chris the best and we hope everything goes well as she fights this battle again.
