Prince Harry Plans To Take Kids To Visit Princess Diana’s Grave During UK Trip

Prince Harry is reportedly planning a deeply personal stop during his upcoming trip to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet. And if the reports are accurate, this could be one of the most emotional moments the Sussex family has shared in years.

According to Rob Shuter‘s celebrity gossip Substack blog Naughty But Nice, Harry hopes to bring his children to visit the grave of his late mother, Princess Diana, during their time in Britain. The reported visit would give Archie and Lilibet an opportunity to learn more about the grandmother they never had the chance to meet but whose influence continues to shape so much of Harry’s life.

One source close to the Spencer family told the outlet:

“Harry still carries the loss of his mother every day. The tragedy is that his children will never know her. This is about helping Archie and Lilibet feel connected to a grandmother who would have adored them.”

As royal watchers know, Diana is buried on a secluded island at Althorp, the Spencer family estate. Harry has visited the site privately over the years, making it one of the most meaningful places connected to his mother’s memory.

Still, the reported plans are already stirring conversation behind palace walls and among royal insiders. The discussion isn’t necessarily about Harry’s intentions, tho. Instead, some are questioning how the visit could ultimately be perceived publicly — particularly given the intense public fascination surrounding both Diana’s legacy and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The trip has also revived memories of Harry bringing Meghan to Diana’s grave during the early days of their relationship. While Harry reportedly viewed that moment as intensely personal, some critics have long argued that stories involving Diana inevitably become part of the larger public narrative surrounding the Sussexes.

One well-placed source told the Substack blog:

“For Harry, Diana is his mother. For Meghan, critics argue Diana has sometimes become part of the brand. There are people in royal circles who worry every Diana story turns into emotional leverage that makes criticism of Meghan almost impossible.”

Oof. Those are STRONG words.

But sources close to the Spencer family insist Harry’s motivation is far simpler and far more heartfelt. Another Spencer source explained:

“This isn’t about headlines for Harry. It’s about making sure his children know the woman he still misses every day.”

And honestly, it’s difficult not to understand that perspective. Diana’s death left an enormous mark on Harry’s life — one he has spoken about publicly for years. Wanting his children to understand who she was beyond the photographs, documentaries, and endless media coverage seems like a natural desire for a son who continues to mourn his mother nearly three decades later.

But whether the visit remains completely private is another matter entirely. According to another insider who spoke to Naughty But Nice:

“The concern has never been Harry’s motives. People understand why he wants to do this. The concern is whether a deeply personal family moment stays private — or eventually becomes part of the public narrative.”

And there lies the question that always seems to follow Harry and Meghan: can a deeply personal family moment stay deeply personal when the entire world is watching??

Ultimately, if the grave visit really happens during the fam’s trip back to the UK, many people will likely view it as a touching tribute from a son to his late mother, while others may continue debating the role Diana’s memory plays in the Sussex story. Either way, it sounds like Harry’s focus is exactly where it has been for years: preserving Diana’s legacy for the next generation of his family.
