Olivia Wilde Talks ‘Rough Time’ She Had In Jason Sudeikis Relationship – And How THIS Heartbreaking Moment Was The Last Straw!

Olivia Wilde is remembering the sad ending of her relationship with Jason Sudeikis.

As we’re sure you know, Olivia and Jason originally got together way back in 2011. Sadly, their relationship came to a bumpy end in 2020, with them breaking off their engagement. They spent nearly a decade together and had two children, Daisy and Otis, but ultimately went their separate ways.

During the Wednesday episode of Call Her Daddy, Olivia revealed the exact moment she knew her relationship was over. While talking about her new movie The Invite, she told Alex Cooper:

“It’s no surprise to me that I ended up making a movie about relationships and the complexity of determining whether a relationship is over because it is not an overnight process. It’s very difficult. And the idea that relationships can come to a place where you become strangers.”

Even though the changes didn’t happen overnight, though, Olivia can pinpoint the exact second she knew that her engagement would never result in marriage. She said it happened on her birthday in 2020:

“Jason and I had been having a rough time there for a while. We had a real bumpy, bumpy ride, and we were driving home from my birthday party my friends had had, and I said, ‘Did you get me a birthday present?’ And he said, ‘What would I get you, Olivia? I don’t know you.’ And he wasn’t wrong. We didn’t know each other anymore.”

OMG. That is heartbreaking. Also what a slap in the face to embarrass her like that on a such an important night instead of being a mature adult! But it wouldn’t be the first time a move like that would be pulled…

The House star did say she got something good out of this terrible moment, though. Her movie, The Invite, was inspired by it:

“This is the thing that made me wanna make this movie because — or one of the things — because you can get to a place in a relationship where you stop engaging in the knowing of each other, in the curiosity about each other, and you find yourself in a place where you’re like, ‘I don’t even know you.’ And that was a point, that was when we realized it was over. And it was f**king tough, and it brought us to the place of like, okay, this is done. We’re gonna end this.”

These days, though, Olivia says things are looking up now that they’re co-parenting:

“You can create a dynamic that allows that kid to have the maximum amount of love. I mean, we are great f**king co-parents. These kids are consistently getting the best of us in a way that when we were together was not possible because we did not work together, but we work really well as separated co-parents.”

Whew, that’s great to hear! Good for them. Listen to her story at the 1:25:51 mark (below):
