Katy Perry can feel the transformative power of love now that she met her boyfriend, Justin Trudeau.
“I have love in my life now. That’s transformed me,” Perry, 41, said on the Wednesday, June 17, episode of Justin Tranter’s “Unfamous” podcast when asked about how she has changed as a songwriter through the years. “You think when The Beatles say, ‘All you need is love,’ it’s a cliché? Clichés are clichés for a reason … it’s like you don’t know until you have your baby how beautiful that experience is and how it transforms you.”
Perry began dating the former Canadian prime minister, 50, in summer 2025, now frequently gushing about falling in love.
“I am constantly in transformation, and I have so many placements of Scorpio in my chart that it would be easy for me to go to the dark side,” she added on Wednesday’s episode. “I’m constantly rebirthing, constantly transforming, constantly, you know, phoenix to ashes, then hopefully eagle.”
Perry began seeing Trudeau following her breakup from then-fiancé Orlando Bloom. (Perry and Bloom, 49, were together for a decade, during which they welcomed 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.)
“I don’t typically feel like a victim — you can hear it in my songs [that] I don’t resonate with that — but last year was pretty tough,” she said, hinting at her separation from Bloom. “It would have been easy for me to fall into that weird victim triangle. So, instead of falling into ‘woe is me,’ I was just like, ‘Let’s just feel this f***ing pain, let’s feel this anger and let’s move on. Let’s learn from it also. Let’s get some feedback from it.’”
After coming to terms with her breakup, Perry adjusted her “boundaries” before meeting Trudeau.
“You know what it is? It’s really boundaries [of] boundaries within yourself, and then when to boil it even further down, it’s just self-respect. It’s just love for yourself,” Perry stated. “If you don’t have boundaries, you may need to look at that … or peel yourself out of it. That’s what I’ve been doing is peeling myself out of all the conditioning.”

Perry’s romance with Trudeau has been heating up after nearly one year of dating.
“Things between Katy and Justin are very serious,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “After her split from Orlando, Katy really wasn’t expecting to jump into another relationship anytime soon, but Justin completely caught her by surprise. He came into her life at the right time, and they have developed a really strong connection. Their relationship has deepened over the past several months … [and] they both feel it’s important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace.”
Trudeau shares three children with estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, from whom he separated in 2023.
