A man was arrested just before the weekend after allegedly firing a handgun outside of Chris Brown‘s house on Friday (May 1) in Los Angeles.
According to EW, a rep for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the man fired a CO2-style handgun near the 36-year-old singer’s house.
Details revealed of incident near Chris’ home
Officers responded to a call around 4pm PT after a call regarding a “shooting that had just occurred.”
Per the report, the man was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. This is a distinction as the weapon used was an air-powered gun and not a traditional handgun.
The suspect, identified as Markeith Cungious, was booked at the Van Nuys Station in LA around 8:30pm and released on bond just after noon the next day.
“At this time, it is unknown who the suspect was working for, and we are unable to confirm any employment or assignment details related to the individual,” an LAPD spokesperson shared with EW.
According to TMZ, the shooting took place after the suspect told officers a woman refused to leave the area, which lead to an argument. The man claimed the situation escalated when the woman drove her vehicle over his foot, which lead to him firing shots at her vehicle.
Chris Brown responds on social media after alleged incident
Following the incident, Chris Brown took to his Instagram story with a statement.
Per TMZ, he wrote, “AT THIS POINT THIS PATTERN IS OLD. I’m looking at the news like the rest of yall wondering when and where the hell this happened. I been in my crib this whole time. Ain’t heard a gunshot, police car, or anything. DONT ATTACH MY NAME TO NONE OF THE BULLSH-T. I got sh-t to do!”
