The 63-year-old actress hosted a conversation with her longtime friend about her upcoming album Sound of a Woman at the event.

Rita also performed a selection of songs from her forthcoming sixth album, which is out on Friday (May 1).

Demi‘s New York appearance with her longtime pal comes a day after it was announced her new movie Tyrant has entered production in Los Angeles.

She is set to star in the David Weil-directed thriller alongside Charlize Theron and Julia Garner.

It was also just announced that Heated Rivalry‘s Hudson Williams, Harry Potter television series star Pappa Essiedu, singer/actor Omar Apollo and model/influencer Nara Smith have all been added to the cast.

While exact plot and character details are being kept under wraps, it is said the pic is a “high-stakes thriller in the vein of Wall Street and Whiplash set within New York City’s elite fine dining scene,” per Deadline.
