Gerard Butler’s Painful 15% RT Fantasy Epic Was So Bad, It Nearly Ended the Director’s Career
Objectively good movies aren’t always what you need for a night in. Sometimes, you need a flavor of wondrously bad and beautifully outrageous to finish off your week. Funnily enough, mythological adaptations have plenty of these kinds of films, where the legends are so terribly misshapen in the film that you can barely recognize them, and the costumes look like they were borrowed from the local LARP group. Examples like Clash of the Titans or The Mummy are victims for this, yet we keep coming back to them for all their quirks. 2016 gave us another mythological mishap, Gerard Butler’s…
ABC The most magical night of “American Idol” arrived once again on April 20, with the Top 9 of Season 24 — Brooks, Hannah Harper, Kyndal Inskeep, Lucas Leon, Jordan McCullough, Keyla Richardson, Braden Rumfelt, Daniel Stallworth, and Chris Tungseth — performing beloved classics from the Disney songbook. In keeping with Disney Night tradition, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie gave us nothing in the costuming department, forcing Carrie Underwood to pick up the slack in a full Belle gown from “Beauty and the Beast.” (And that thing is heavy. It’s like two costumes in…

When Jeff Hiller was cast to play a friendly biker on Pluribus, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. “I never read the script; I wasn’t given it,” the Emmy-winning actor tells Gold Derby exclusively. His character, Larry, interacts with romance author Carol (Rhea Seehorn) in the fourth episode as she’s actively investigating the mysterious hive mind virus that has infected humanity. Their conversation eventually turns to what Carol’s deceased wife, Helen (Miriam Shor), really thought of her books. “I read the internal scene, but they’d made all sorts of changes to it,” Hiller adds. “They told…

Oscar winner Sean Baker has found an unexpected way to inspire future generations of independent filmmakers — at the bank. The auteur has secured the first big payday of his career for his follow-up to best picture winner “Anora,” the sex-worker dramedy that made history in 2025 when the Oscars handed Baker four trophies in one night, tying the record set by Walt Disney. The project in question is “Ti Amo!” which Baker has described as “an ode to the Italian sex comedies of the ’60s and ’70s.” Warner Bros. announced it had won the film last week at CinemaCon…
The partnership of a groundbreaking comedy duo gets the nostalgia-documentary treatment in Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie (now streaming on Paramount+). Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are ubiquitous with stoner comedy, and were the first to truly bring such bluntness to the masses in the 1970s and early ’80s via their wildly popular touring act and several hit movies. But this is a sobering doc in a couple of ways: One, it reveals that these two dudes, despite their appreciation for reefer, actually WEREN’T burnout megastoners in real life, an assumption that’s all too easy to make. And two, it…
Judy Greer is recalling when her Wedding Planner co-star Matthew McConaughey once came to her rescue. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said she had gotten herself into a situation when she accidentally parked at an upscale hotel in New York City for the table read of the 2001 rom-com, starring McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez. Greer played Penny, the latter’s best friend in the film. “I valeted my car; I didn’t know any better,” Greer said of when she arrived at the Roosevelt Hotel. “I didn’t have enough money to get my car out of the valet because…
