ACID, the filmmaker-selected Cannes parallel section which first championed the early works of Justine Triet, Kaouther Ben Hania and Radu Jude, has announced the lineup for it 2026 edition. The selection, showcasing nine independent productions, will open with French fiction Born Under A Bad Star (Mauvaise Étoile). Set on a scorching hot day in a nondescript outer city suburban somewhere in the South of France, it follows 24-hours in the life of a young woman called Kiki living under the control of a violent partner. It is the first feature of directorial duo Lola Cambourieu and Yann Berlier after buzzy…
NBC Following one last round of difficult eliminations on April 13, the stage is officially set for tomorrow’s “The Voice: Battle of Champions” finale (NBC, 9/8c). But which of the four singers left standing will emerge the winner of Season 29? Let’s discuss. Monday’s Semi-Finals turned out to be a night of make-or-break performances, bold (and occasionally questionable) arrangements, and game-changing results. Do we agree with the four singers who were ultimately chosen to compete in the finale (one each for Adam Levine and John Legend, plus two for Kelly…

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026 inductees were announced Monday, during a live, Rock Hall-themed American Idol episode mentored by 2022 Hall of Famers Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. And while the Performer inductees include seven artists that Gold Derby predicted correctly, and six that we actually voted for, the overall class still features a few snubs and surprises. The Performer category in fact might make for the Hall’s most Gen X-centric ceremony since 2022 (when Benatar and Giraldo were inducted alongside Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and American Idol judge…
While U.S. presidents have historically attempted to refrain from personal business dealings while assuming the highest office in the land, the Trump family’s business expansion could potentially reshape the presidency as we know it. According to a Monday, April 13, report published by the Associated Press, President Donald Trump’s “family real estate business is undergoing the fastest overseas expansion since its founding.” Per the report, these overseas ventures are being helmed by some of the president’s children, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., which includes an expansion “into cryptocurrencies with ventures that brought in billions of dollars.” “The brothers have…
Three years ago, filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki brought a legendary monster out of the shadows and onto the big screen when he ushered in Godzilla Minus One. With brilliant cinematography, dazzling effects, and a captivating storyline, the feature quickly became one of the most talked about films of the year and amassed a massive box office haul of $116 million against its $15 million production budget. Beyond its financial success, the title went on to take award season by storm, even taking home the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. With a sequel on the way, fans have a lot to…
Chris Perfetti Unpacks His Oddball ‘DTF St. Louis’ Character and the Show’s Surprising Finale
Chris Perfetti is just as much of a fan of DTF St. Louis as the rest of the audience, and he wants everyone to know it. Sitting down with DECIDER to chat about his guest-starring role in the HBO miniseries from Steven Conrad, the Abbott Elementary actor spilled on stepping into the twisted world to play Tiger Tiger — a persona hired by Clark Forrest (Jason Bateman) to meet up with Floyd (David Harbour). In Episode 6, “The Denny’s Plan,” Perfetti’s oddball character is first introduced as he peers out from a booth at a Denny’s to accept $900 to…
There’s no one more famous than Tom Rothman when it comes to getting theater owners fired up at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of theater owners in Las Vegas. The chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group has used profanities more than once when taking aim at the perceived enemies of the theatrical experience who make it far too easy for consumers to watch a movie at home. “Netflix, my ass,” is one of his more notorious quips. But his comments at this year’s edition of CinemaCon took a surprise turn April 13 when he instead took issue with cinema operators and…
