A few years ago, there was a run of documentaries about various Lakers and Celtics teams, each project featuring some selection of identical talking heads, giving the impression that there must’ve been a junket somewhere with Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Shaq, Boston Globe columnist Bob Ryan and a few others sitting in hotel rooms, being visited by a procession of directors asking about the same iconic playoff games and historical intersections. The documentaries felt separate, but the same. More recently, it’s happened again with all things Saturday Night Live. There were four short docs released under the SNL50 banner, plus…
According to Gold Derby’s current predictions, Laurie Metcalf is expected to receive a Best Featured Actress in a Play nomination for Death of a Salesman at this year’s Tonys. She’s also a dark-horse contender for a Best Actress in a Play bid for Little Bear Ridge Road. If both pan out, she would become just the seventh actor in history to have scored Tony nods in two categories for two different roles in the same year. Last fall, Metcalf starred in Samuel D. Hunter’s play Little Bear Ridge Road. She played Sarah Fernsby, a woman who reunites with her estranged…

Hannah Harper is making a habit of this. Following Monday’s “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” episode of American Idol, Hannah’s performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” earned a staggering 41% of the vote, by far her most dominant showing yet and her fourth straight week atop our fan poll. At this point, calling Hannah the front-runner hardly feels bold. Still, the irony is hard to ignore: on a night she sang “Landslide,” she delivered exactly that. The gap between Hannah and the rest of the field was massive. Jordan McCullough finished a distant second with 19.7% for his soaring…
Rose, 40, said that she wasn’t initially interested in filing a police report over the alleged incident or any other sexual crimes that she’s experienced over the years, but she had since decided to seek legal action against Perry, 41. “I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try,” she wrote on Threads April 13. “I have a long list, it will probably take more out of me than I’m prepared for, but I will come back here to update others on the process, as soon as I am ready.” One day after…

Courtesy of Fox In the early days of television, film was expensive and recording technology was limited, so many TV programs were aired live. By the 1990s, however, most sitcoms were recorded in advance — often in front of a studio audience — and edited before broadcast, giving actors, producers, and crew more room for error. One show, however, took a retro approach for its second season. Several cast members of “Roc” had stage experience, and an experimental live episode in Season 1 proved to be a ratings juggernaut. Producers decided that the entire second season would be presented live, and…
Zach Cregger is reuniting with Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s New Line division for his next original feature. Cregger, who directed last year’s acclaimed Oscar-winning horror hit Weapons for the company, has written, and will direct, The Flood, an original sci-fi thriller on which the studio is moving at full speed, scheduling an Aug. 11, 2028 release date. The project reunites him with his Weapons producers Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment and interestingly has him working with avowed Cregger fan Steven Spielberg. The latter’s Amblin Entertainment is also producing Flood. The announcement, by Warners’ Mike De Luca…
