Grab your favorite mug and preheat the ovens, because The Great British Baking Show is preparing to pitch its famous white tent for another season. If you’re wondering when Collection 14 (known as Series 17 in the UK) will make its way to our screens, you aren’t alone. Fortunately, we have some sweet news to share about the release, along with some major, bittersweet changes coming to the upcoming batch of episodes.
In case you didn’t know, since 2018, Netflix has become the de facto streaming home of the hit British series (known as The Great British Bake-off there), but only in the United States. That news came after the streamer had carried the PBS iteration of the show for a number of years. A number of spin-offs are also available on Netflix US, including the Christmas specials, Junior series, and The Professionals, although they’re not being updated as well as the flagship series.
When is Collection 14 Coming to Netflix?
Let’s start with the most important ingredient: What’s on Netflix has officially confirmed that the new season will indeed be returning to Netflix US! Just like in previous years, fans across the pond won’t have to dodge spoilers for long, as the streaming giant will continue its tradition of a weekly release schedule.
While Netflix hasn’t announced the exact premiere date just yet, we can easily speculate based on past seasons. Historically, the show kicks off on the UK’s Channel 4 in late August or early September, with Netflix dropping the episodes just days later on Fridays. With the UK broadcast slated to begin around the first week of September 2026, it is highly likely that Collection 14 will premiere on Netflix US by Friday, September 4th, or shortly thereafter.
We’ll update this post once we get official confirmation.
Saying Goodbye to a Baking Legend
When Collection 14 finally arrives, there will be one noticeable absence at the gingham altar. Earlier this year, Prue Leith announced her decision to step down as a judge after nine seasons and “more than 400 challenges”. The South African and British restaurateur, who replaced Mary Berry in 2017, is leaving some big, brightly-colored statement necklaces to fill.
“I have genuinely loved [The Great British Baking Show], and I’m sure I’ll miss working with my fellow judges, Paul, Alison, and Noel, and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4,” Prue announced on her Instagram back in January.
So, why the departure? “I’m 86 for goodness sake!” she quipped, noting that she plans to “spend summers enjoying my garden.” Prue also recently revealed on a podcast that she was feeling a bit unsteady on her pins during the outdoor shoots, expressing her fear of taking a humiliating tumble in the “hummocky, uneven” fields surrounding the tent.
Channel 4’s chief content officer Ian Katz praised her “joyous presence,” noting that she paired “absolute culinary authority with great generosity and empathy for the bakers.” While Paul Hollywood has an important handshake to give his departing colleague, the network has not yet announced who will be stepping in as the new judge to join Paul, Alison Hammond, and Noel Fielding.
A Brand New Twist: Audience Choice Week
To make up for the heartbreak of Prue’s departure, Collection 14 is bringing a massive first to the franchise. Before she left, Prue and Paul Hollywood confirmed a new format change for 2026: “Audience Choice Week.” For the very first time in the show’s history, viewers were put in control of what the bakers conjure up, submitting their ideas online to choose the Signature, Technical, and Showstopper challenges for one specific week.
Between the mystery of the new judge, the fan-curated bakes, and the confirmed weekly Netflix drops, Collection 14 is shaping up to be a true showstopper.
More Festival Specials On The Way

Netflix is also expected (no confirmation yet) to pick up more Christmas specials. As always, though, Netflix US releases the Christmas and New Year episodes from the year prior so we already know which ones are coming, the ones that aired in the UK in 2025.
Here’s a breakdown of the two new episodes, which, based on prior additions, can be expected to land in November or early December at the latest:
- The Great Christmas Bake Off 2025 – Ding dong merrily on pie! Deck the ovens and take a peep into the tent, as stars from Peep Show create biscuit decorations, a Boxing Day classic and their favourite moments in cake form.
- The Great New Year’s Bake Off 2025/26 – As the oven timers strike midnight, teams of legendary bakers from seasons gone by bring in 2026 the only way they know how… with fabulous festive baking and plenty of merry making
