Curry Barker‘s wild new horror film Obsession has been making a splash since it landed in theaters, grossing millions of dollars and cementing the 26-year-old director as a filmmaker to watch.
But Obsession is hardly the first horror film Barker has made. The filmmaker originally made his name as part of the comedy duo That’s A Bad Idea on YouTube alongside Cooper Tomlinson, who some may recognize as the actor who plays Bear’s friend Ian in Obsession. The duo have created hundreds of original skits and video projects on the platform, earning 1.17 million subscribers over the years.
Now, the That’s A Bad Idea duo have reunited for what is turning out to be a one of the year’s most profitable movies with a whopping $75 million earned in the global box office. Obsession follows the grisly aftermath of a wish gone terribly wrong when Bear (Michael Johnston) wishes his friend Nikki (Inde Navarette) loved him more than anyone else in the world. But he gets far more than he bargained for when the wish changes their friendly dynamic into a violently toxic relationship that could threaten their lives.
Before Obsession, however, Barker directed the short horror movie, Milk & Serial. It could be argued the 2024 found footage film, which cost just $800 to make, helped launch Barker’s career. He is now attached to direct, co-write and co-star in his third feature film Anything but Ghosts, with Tomlinson as his co-star and co-writer. He will also write and direct A24’s new reboot of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, per Variety.

How to watch the Curry Barker movie Milk & Serial:

Milk & Serial is available to watch for free on the That’s A Bad Idea YouTube channel. (Or below, your choice!)
The official summary for the found footage horror film reads, “When a surprise birthday prank goes terribly wrong, two social media influencers must face the devastating consequences that come after.”
Barker wrote, directed, edited and scored the movie by himself. Tomlinson, who stars opposite Barker in the self-made movie, also served as a producer. Adlih Torres, Sterling L. Pope, Jonnathan Cripple, Gloria Karel, John Simmonds, Paul Santoli and Rob Harrow also star.
And that’s not all. Barker’s other short films The Chair, Warnings and Heavy Eyes are also available to stream for free.
Is Obsession streaming? Or is Obsession only in theaters?
Obsession is currently only playing in theaters. Since it is a Universal release, Obsession will likely be available to stream on the NBCUniversal streaming platform, Peacock, later this year.
It’s only a matter of time before the hit movie will begin streaming.
