Best Served Cold: A Hannah Swensen Mystery is the next installment in Hallmark Channel‘s hit mystery movie series. The last we saw of beloved baker and sleuth Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney) and prosecuting attorney Chad Norton (Victor Webster) was in March’s Sugar & Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. This time, Hannah and Chad are met with a crossover of cases involving murder and fraud.
“When a suspect in a forgery case is murdered and the prosecutor goes missing, Hannah and Chad must uncover how the two cases are connected and solve them in time for the trial,” the network’s synopsis reads.
Set in the fictional town of Lake Eden, Minnesota, Best Served Cold: A Hannah Swensen Mystery delivers yet another cozy mystery, with the proof lying so close that you can taste it. This week’s premiere kicks off a lineup of mystery movies, with next week bringing True Justice: Eye for An Eye and the following weekend bringing Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Key to the Castle.

Photo: Ricardo Hubbs/Hallmark Media Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney) is not only the owner of the local bakery and coffeeshop, The Cookie Jar, but is also a sleuth on the side, helping satiate people’s sweet tooth and solving cases that the police department just can’t crack.
Sweeney has led 13 mystery movies as Hannah Swensen Hallmark, in addition to countless other network films. Outside of Hallmark, she is best known for starring in over 3,000 episodes of Days of Our Lives, and also hosted 13 seasons of The Biggest Loser.

Photo: Ricardo Hubbs/Hallmark Media Victor Webster returns as Chad Norton, a prosecuting attorney who is tasked with taking over a colleague’s fraud case. Despite being Hannah’s boyfriend, he avoids the influx of treats that Hannah has to offer him.
This marks Webster’s sixth Hannah Swensen film, after making his franchise debut in 2024’s One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. Webster has appeared on shows like Days of Our Lives, Mutant X, Charmed, Continuum, and Workin’ Moms.

Photo: Ricardo Hubbs/Hallmark Media Delores (Barbara Niven) is Hannah’s mother, a former actress and current private investigator, who is just as curious as Hannah in solving the case and loves her time in the spotlight—even if that means being on the stand. Her boyfriend Ron (Mike Dopud) is also the sheriff.
Niven is another returning member of the Murder, She Baked-turned-Hannah Swensen Mystery franchise, reprising her role as Hannah’s mother, Delores. Other TV credits of Niven’s include Pensacola: Wings of Gold, One Life to Live, Cedar Cove, and Chesapeake Shores.

Hamidi has appeared on several TV shows, among which are Supernatural, Supergirl, and Yellowjackets.

Heffern most recently appeared in Remarkably Bright Creatures, the Netflix adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s novel of the same name. Recent work of hers at Hallmark includes 2024’s Autumn at Apple Hill and 2025’s Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper!
