3 Netflix shows from April that are blowing up right now

April was a great month for Netflix shows. We saw so many good shows released during the month, including XO, Kitty season 3, Big Mistakes, Running Point season 2, and even the Stranger Things spinoff, Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85, which was just renewed for season 2.

While those shows were some of the most popular shows of the month, there are a few other more underrated titles that are starting to blow up, none more than the sleeper hit of the month, Unchosen.

Let’s check out the Netflix shows you can’t miss right now.

Unchosen – Asa Butterfield, Fra Fee – Justin Downing/Netflix

Unchosen

Unchosen is the Netflix show that almost no one had on their radar heading into April 2026, and it’s looking like it might be the most popular show of the month! The series premiered on April 21, and it’s racked up more than 10 million views in its first week on Netflix, according to the Netflix Top 10.

The cult thriller stars Molly Windsor and Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield as Rosie and Adam, a young couple in a strict cult in the English countryside. When their young daughter goes missing and is rescued by a Christ-like figure, Rosie’s world gets flipped upside down.

Of all the shows released in April, Unchosen definitely is getting that Netflix bump. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one grows even bigger in the next couple of weeks.

Beef season 2

(L to R) Charles Melton as Austin Davis, Cailee Spaeny as Ashley Miller in episode 201 of Beef

Beef

Beef season 2 premiered on Netflix on Thursday, April 16. Despite boasting an incredible cast with Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny, Youn Yuh-jung, Youn Yuh-jung, and Seoyeon Jang, Beef season 2 got off to an incredibly slow start. The season only racked up 2.4 million views in the season’s opening weekend.

Since then, things have looked more like what we were expecting. During the second week on Netflix, the show racked up 4.1 million views, and it’s the third most popular show of the week behind Running Point and Unchosen.

The second season follows two couples who become intertwined when they witness a domestic violence incident. Then, things get really weird from there.

Man on Fire

Man on Fire

Man on Fire is the biggest new release of the end of April on Netflix. In the series, which is based on a famous book of the same name by A.J. Quinnell. Yahya-Abdul Mateen II stars as John Creasy, a character once played by Denzel Washington in the 2004 film of the same name. In the series, Creasy is a former mercenary with PTSD who is pulled back into the world causing his problems.

It’s too early to know just how big of a hit Man on Fire is going to be, but there’s no doubt it’s going to be viewed as one of the biggest releases of the month. After its premiere on Thursday, April 30, it kicked off the month of May as the No. 1 show on the Netflix Top 10 in many countries around the world.

Currently, Man on Fire is sitting behind Should I Marry a Murderer?, a true crime docuseries on the Netflix Top 10 in the United States, but it’s only a matter of time before Man on Fire takes over. I’m going to be really interested to see what the ratings look like next week. If they’re good, we could be looking at a season 2 order for Man on Fire.

We’ll share more great Netflix shows to watch in May, but make sure you don’t miss Unchosen, Beef season 2, and Man on Fire on Netflix right now.
