This Netflix Top 10 movie combines survival horror with cult madness

Netflix’s top 10 daily movie list is a crowded space, usually dominated by high-profile releases, sequels, and familiar franchises. That’s currently the case right now with the recent addition of a new post-apocalyptic film that has quietly climbed the charts. Unlike typical horror movies that rely solely on jump scares or gore, this film delivers a story that is as psychologically compelling as it is terrifying.

Perhaps you’re familiar with the 28 Days Later film series. Well, the latest installment in the franchise was just recently added to Netflix and is currently one of the most popular movies streaming on the platform at the moment.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple breaks into the Netflix Top 10

Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) in Columbia Pictures’ 28 Years Later | Sony Pictures Releasing

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) was added to Netflix on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. We knew this movie would be making a Netflix debut because the streaming giant made a big announcement about it in mid-March. Now, were we expecting it to break into the top 10 so quickly? Honestly, yeah. With a franchise that has consistently set the bar for post-apocalyptic horror, it was no surprise that viewers would be drawn to this latest, chilling chapter.

Directed by Nia DaCosta from a screenplay written by Alex Garland, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple serves as the fourth movie in the 28 Days Later film series. If you weren’t aware, the 28 Days Later franchise centers on the catastrophic outbreak of the Rage Virus, a highly contagious pathogen that transforms ordinary humans into feral, violent beings.

The series has always been as much about human survival and moral choices as it is about infected hordes. Over the years, the franchise has explored themes like the collapse of society, the fragility of morality under extreme circumstances, and the lengths to which people will go to protect themselves and their loved ones. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple continues this legacy, pushing the story decades into the future while introducing new characters and threats.

The film serves as a sequel to 28 Years Later (2025). We follow Spike, a resilient young survivor who has grown up in a world still haunted by the remnants of the Rage Virus. Desperate to carve out a safe existence, Spike’s life is immediately complicated when he crosses paths with the Fingers, a brutal, fanatical cult led by the unpredictable and charismatic Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal.

This group enforces rigid, violent rituals of loyalty, forcing Spike into situations that test both his courage and his morality. Unlike the infected hordes that dominated earlier installments, the Fingers represent a human threat that is just as terrifying.

At the same time, the film follows Dr. Ian Kelson, a former physician driven by a singular obsession. He wants to understand the long-term effects of the Rage Virus. Within this eerie environment, Kelson studies Samson, a rare Alpha Infected who exhibits traces of regained humanity.

Alfie Williams reprises his role as Spike in the film, while Ralph Fiennes returns as Dr. Ian Kelson. Also in the sequel’s cast are Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, Emma Laird, Sam Locke, and many others.

Now that you know all there is to know about 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, all there’s left to do is to actually check it out on Netflix. The first film, 28 Years Later, is also available to stream on the platform. However, it’s unknown when exactly both movies will depart. We’ll get back to you with this important information as soon as it’s available.
