Kelley Wolf is opening up about an incredibly difficult chapter in her life — and taking responsibility for the pain she says her mental health crisis caused along the way.
More than a year after The Real World: New Orleans alum and Scott Wolf ended their 21-year marriage, Kelley shared a deeply personal statement on Instagram on Friday explaining what she now understands about the turbulent period surrounding their split.

Over on IG, she wrote:
“It’s been a year since I recognized what everyone around me could see: I was not well, and I needed help. I felt like my brain had been hijacked, and the world was moving at the speed of a freight train. It turns out that is exactly what happened, but I didn’t know it. I had no awareness of my actions. I was completely delusional, and it was hitting critical mass.”
After a year of professional treatment and support, Kelley said she finally received an explanation for what happened:
“After a year of working with incredible doctors, therapists, psychologists, and healers, I have an answer. What I experienced was diagnosed as breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis — which means it had never happened before, and I pray never again — caused by stress, past trauma, hormonal shifts, and hallucinogens mixed with prescribed medications. A perfect storm.”
Of course, as Perezcious readers know, Kelley and the Party of Five star share three children: Jackson, 17, Miller, 13, and Lucy, 12. Their separation became increasingly contentious last year, after Scott was granted temporary custody of their children and a restraining order was issued against Kelley.
She was later arrested and faced three misdemeanor charges related to alleged electronic harassment and doxxing involving her estranged husband.
Those charges were eventually dismissed last month. Kelley then subsequently entered a rehabilitation treatment center, and now she is looking back at her behavior with profound remorse. She wrote:
“I won’t recount all of the chaos, but what has burdened my soul is my need to say: I am so sorry. My husband of twenty years was taken through a nightmare that wouldn’t even fly in a movie script; it was so brutal. The things I did, said, wrote, and posted caused profound harm and were not based in truth or reality. And they caused pain I could never imagine to the people I love the most.”
She added:
“In my illness, I made accusations and did things that make me shudder. I have spent my life believing in love, hope, kindness, and compassion. What I became was the opposite: cruel, vicious, mean.”
Scott, 58, had previously denied abuse allegations Kelley made in text messages and a 911 call, calling them “deeply disturbing” and “entirely false.”
Now, Kelley says repairing her relationship with Scott and their children is at the heart of her recovery:
“Scott and my kids… There won’t be a day that I don’t thank God for you. Causing you pain and being the reason you suffered will haunt me for the rest of my life. It was my job to protect you, honor you, and keep you safe, and I became the cause of your heartbreak. I am sorry. You never gave up on me, and you fought like hell until you landed me in safe harbor. I owe you my life.”
FYI, Scott appeared to acknowledge her decision to publicly confront this painful chapter, because he commented on her IG post with several heart emojis.
