Are we — finally — one step closer to solving this mystery!?
A Mexican volunteer group that searches for missing people claims they received an anonymous tip about the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie! Unfortunately, it’s not the news any of us wants to hear.
Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, the head of Buscando Corazones Nogales, told local outlet El Imparcial that they received a tip on Wednesday claiming the 84-year-old was buried in a remote area near the US-Mexico border in an unmarked grave. Oof.

Specifically, the tipster alleged she was buried in one of the streams in an area called Mariposa. The group had searched that area earlier this spring and found more than 25 unmarked graves, from which the remains of at least 32 people were recovered. After receiving this information, they returned to the area to search near the streams with the help of the Sonora State Commission for the Search of Missing Person. Municipal and state officials also provided security forces to help keep the volunteers and workers safe. Sadly, they’ve had no luck finding Guthrie so far. They plan to continue looking.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department released a statement on the tip on Thursday evening, expressing:
“We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico. At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities. This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information.”

It’s hard to tell if they think this is legit or not. As devastating as a discovery like this would be, we know the Guthrie family is desperate for answers, and we want nothing more than for them to get some peace and healing after this tragedy. One way or another, we hope clarity and justice come soon.
Thoughts?
