Elementary, dear readers. The estate of Arthur Conan Doyle must be rolling in it with the amount of royalties they’re getting at the moment. And with good reason, because not only are his stories elementary, they’re also evergreen, and ripe for growth, as Nancy Springer can attest to. This latest project comes from the writings of Springer, as inspired by Doyle, and it’s about to enchant us all over again in just a few weeks.
Netflix has released the trailer for Enola Holmes 3, which will debut globally on the streamer on July 1, 2026. Last time we saw Enola, she had just officially opened her own detective agency, but was tragically struggling to be taken seriously because everyone either thinks she’s too young, too female, or just wants her big brother instead. Rude, but very Victorian.
The third film once again follows Enola, Sherlock Holmes’ equally brilliant younger sister, as adventure chases her to Malta for a case more tangled and dangerous than anything she’s faced before. The latest installment of the series has found Enola at a crossroads as she attempts to investigate a new mystery on the sunny island in the Mediterranean Sea. But as her private detective career starts to blossom, she also has to figure out the next stage of her relationship with the dashing Tewkesbury. Yes, the game is afoot, but this time it’s sunny and we’re sure they didn’t have sunblock back then, did they?

The cast includes Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) as Enola Holmes, Louis Partridge (Argylle) as Tewkesbury, Himesh Patel (Yesterday) as Dr. John Watson — who debuted in a post-credits scene in the previous outing — Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune) as Moriarty, Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) as Sherlock Holmes, and Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech) as Eudoria Holmes.
Enola Holmes 3 is directed by Emmy-winning Adolescence filmmaker Philip Barantini, who joins the franchise for the first time. The film is written by Jack Thorne, who also wrote Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2, and is based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries book series by Nancy Springer. Producers include Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes, Millie Bobby Brown, Robert Brown, Michael Dreyer, and Jack Thorne, with Joshua Grode, Jake Bongiovi, and Isobel Richards executive producing.
