Alex Cooper is getting candid about pregnancy life — and it sounds like the first trimester has been anything but glamorous!
The Call Her Daddy host took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a previously recorded video from the early weeks of her pregnancy, giving fans a peek behind the curtain at what she was dealing with before she publicly revealed her exciting baby news. While everyone loves a celebrity pregnancy announcement, Alex used the new-old vid to remind people that there can be plenty of uncomfortable moments before those happy headlines ever arrive, too!

According to the podcast star, nausea hit her HARD during those first few months. In the clip, which was filmed while she was on a work trip, she didn’t hold back about how rough she was feeling:
“I’m so nauseous. Everything sounds so disgusting.”
Oof!
Anyone who has gone through pregnancy, or watched a loved one experience it, probably knows exactly what she’s talking about. Apparently, there was one thing she could reliably stomach during that period: sour candy. Not exactly a balanced meal plan, but sometimes survival mode is survival mode!
Still, for Alex, the physical symptoms weren’t the only challenge. The media personality explained that keeping such a huge secret from the people around her at the time was just as difficult as dealing with the nausea itself. She admitted:
“I would also say one of the hardest parts of the first trimester is not telling anyone. I just want to bitch — like, I just want to complain and be like, ‘I’m so f**king nauseous,’ and I obviously can’t say that because I’m trying not to tell anyone for as long as humanly possible.”
Girl, we can’t even imagine feeling miserable while also having to pretend everything is completely normal! That’s a tough balancing act for anyone, especially someone whose career revolves around sharing personal stories and speaking openly with an audience.
Alex went on to explain that she’s naturally the type of person who likes to vent and commiserate with others, which made the secrecy even harder. Thankfully, she had one very important person in her corner: her husband, Matt Kaplan.
As she recalled:
“So I’m in meetings texting Matt. He’ll be like, ‘How are you feeling?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m gonna die.’ And he’s like, ‘I love you so much babe.’”

Of course, the podcast host first announced that she and Matt are expecting back in May, and fans have been eagerly following along ever since. Now that she’s sharing some of the realities she faced during those early weeks, her pregnancy journey is feeling even more relatable.
Here’s hoping the nausea has eased up since those first-trimester days. Pregnancy can be an incredible experience, but it can also be exhausting. Duh! And Alex’s honesty about the less glamorous side of it all is something plenty of people will appreciate, we’re certain.
