Looks like Steve Carell has something to crow about. The Office star is looking to add an eighth career acting Emmy nomination for his new HBO series, Rooster, hailing from super-producer Bill Lawrence, the mind behind such series as Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and Scrubs.
Carrell received six Best Comedy Actor nods during his Office tenure, but famously never took home the statuette. (He also added a Best Drama Actor nomination to his roster for his Season 1 role on Apple TV’s The Morning Show.) He’s been on the rise in Gold Derby’s Emmy odds recently, though, which his main competition shaping up to be Shrinking‘s Jason Segel and Only Murders in the Building‘s Martin Short.
Besides Carell, HBO is also submitting Rooster‘s ace supporting cast for recognition, including the trio of Charly Clive, Danielle Deadwyler, and Lauren Tsai, as well as Phil Dunster and John C. McGinley. The show also hopes to contend for Best Comedy Series.
