Saturday night is here, but unfortunately for Saturday Night Live fans, that doesn’t mean a new episode is waiting for us.
The NBC sketch comedy institution is still enjoying its summer break after wrapping Season 51 back in May. The good news? The wait for Season 52 is almost over. NBC has officially set a premiere date and already announced the first four hosts of the new season.
So, is Saturday Night Live new tonight, Saturday, September 12? Here’s what to know about when the show returns, who’s hosting those first few episodes and what SNL fans can watch in the meantime.
Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, September 12?
Nope. There isn’t a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
The show remains on its summer hiatus, with Season 52 set to premiere Saturday, September 26 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
At least we don’t have to go into the new season completely in the dark. NBC has already announced the hosts and musical guests for the first four episodes, giving fans plenty to look forward to when SNL finally returns.
When does SNL Season 52 premiere?
Saturday Night Live Season 52 kicks off Saturday, September 26 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
Jalen Brunson will host the season premiere, marking the NBA champion’s first time taking the SNL stage. KATSEYE will serve as the musical guest.
And the show isn’t wasting any time filling out the rest of its opening lineup.
Dakota Johnson will return to host on October 3, followed by Shane Gillis on October 10. The show will then return from a two-week break on Halloween, October 31, with Superman star Inde Navarrette making her hosting debut.
Who are the first four SNL Season 52 hosts?
Here’s the lineup announced so far:
September 26: Jalen Brunson / KATSEYE
October 3: Dakota Johnson / Turnstile
October 10: Shane Gillis / Rosalía
October 31: Inde Navarrette / Gracie Abrams
Brunson is the only first-time host in the season premiere lineup, while Johnson and Gillis are both returning for their third hosting appearances. Navarrette will make her debut when SNL returns for its Halloween episode.
The musical guests are a pretty strong mix, too. KATSEYE and Turnstile will make their SNL debuts, while Rosalía and Gracie Abrams are both returning to the show.
So, if you’re already counting down to the first new episode, September 26 is the date to circle.
What else can I watch tonight?
There is some fresh SNL action tonight — just not from the American version.
Saturday Night Live UK is back for Season 2 tonight, September 12, across the pond. Jeff Goldblum is kicking off the new season as host, with Irish singer-songwriter CMAT serving as musical guest. The episode airs at 10 p.m. on Sky and is also available through NOW in the U.K.
And U.S. viewers won’t have to wait too long to get in on the fun. Peacock will stream the Jeff Goldblum-hosted SNL UK premiere on Sunday, September 13, at 1:01 p.m. ET.
Goldblum is no stranger to Studio 8H, either. The actor previously hosted the American SNL twice, in 1993 and 1998, before crossing the pond for the British version’s Season 2 premiere.
