The late Rob Reiner was posthumously awarded the Emmy for Best Comedy Guest Actor for his performance in FX’s The Bear in the most moment from Sunday’s Creative Arts ceremony. The audience rose in a rousing ovation to celebrate the entertainment icon nine months after his death.
The award was presented by Wendi McLendon-Covey and David Alan Grier from St. Denis Medical. They accepted on Reiner’s behalf.
Reiner joined Season 4 of the series in 2025 as Albert, a business consultant helping Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson) franchise The Original Beef. The Bear‘s series finale paid tribute to Reiner, with Ebra concluding a phone call with Albert by saying, “As you wish” — a sweet nod to Reiner’s beloved 1987 classic, The Princess Bride.
This victory marks Reiner’s third Emmy from 10 nominations. He previously won two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his iconic role as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on All in the Family in 1974 and 1978. His also received bids as an actor, producer, and director for All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Hour, and Free to Be… You & Me.
Reiner and his wife, Michele, were killed in December 2025. Their son Nick is facing murder charges for their deaths, which sent shockwaves across Hollywood and sparked an outpouring of tributes from friends, collaborators, and fans.
