It’s the semi-finals on MasterChef: Global Gauntlet and the Top 5 are racing for a spot in the Season 16 finale. Team Africa still has Heidi and Peter, Team Europe has Basia and Julia, and Jake is the last one standing for Team Americas. Standing between them and the finale is “Keeping Up With Gordon,” and two of them won’t survive it.
The Challenge
“Keeping Up With Gordon” has become a MasterChef staple. Cooks trail the chef through a lightning-fast tutorial and try to replicate his dish beat for beat. But tonight came with a twist. Before anyone gets to Gordon Ramsay, they’ll have to keep up with Tiffany Derry.
After captaining the winning team last week, Jake gets to skip Tiffany’s round and heads straight to Gordon. Whoever turns in the worst replication of Tiffany’s dish goes home on the spot, and the four who remain then take on Gordon, with three advancing to the finale.
Keeping Up With Tiffany
The dish Tiffany’s cooking: pan-roasted halibut with red chermoula, fonio, fennel and orange salad, and garlic sauce.

Elimination 1
Following Tiffany’s lightning-fast tutorial, the contestant eliminated in fifth place was Basia. Her dish was called “clunky” and the fish was undercooked. “I’m very proud,” Basia said while exiting the MasterChef kitchen. “I never even thought that I would be here. Cooking for all three of you is a dream come true.”

Keeping Up With Gordon
The dish Gordon’s cooking: herb-crusted rack of lamb with roasted eggplant puree, pea fricassee, pickled turnips, and mint sauce.

Elimination 2
Following Gordon’s masterclass against the clock, the contestant eliminated in fourth place was Julia. Her lamb was undercooked and wasn’t plated accurately. Julia says she was “overjoyed” to have had the opportunity to cook for Gordon, Tiffany, and Joe. “This has been so many dreams wrapped into one,” she says. “I came here for more than myself, I came here for my grandmother. I have learned so much about my talents as a chef. I want to start a bakery one day and I want to thank MasterChef for the courage and confidence to continue pursuing my dreams.”

Next time
Heidi, Jake, and Peter will face off in the MasterChef: Global Gauntlet finale. Only one will take home the title, the trophy, and $250,000.
