Soap opera fans, we’ve got great news! K. Bromberg’s Driven, previously available only on Passionflix, will stream on Netflix beginning Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Soap opera fans appreciate steamy romance stories. If you haven’t seen Driven yet, now is the perfect opportunity to binge Rylee and Colton’s love story from the start to the finish line.
It’s one of Passionflix’s most-watched TV shows, and it’s the first to land on Netflix. That’s an awesome deal, whether you’re reliving their story or watching it for the first time, because you only have so many streamers. Many romance novel fans love Passionflix because the streamer has adapted so many of their favorites, with this being one of the first.
What is Driven about?
Driven was based on K. Bromberg’s book series. She has also written some standalone books in the same universe for those fans who like to read and analyze the characters.
Driven plays the slow-burn romance game wonderfully. Rylee Thomas runs a company raising orphaned boys with traumatic pasts, but she also has a hidden past. Soap opera territory, right? She meets Colton Donovan, a professional race car driver, at a charity auction, and there are immediate sparks.
Colton Donovan used to be one of those boys before he was adopted and became successful. Now he flaunts it and thinks every woman should want him, so he’s thrown when Rylee doesn’t fall for his womanizing game, thus making him want her more. Even though they think they’re wrong for each other, they’re pulled toward each other, making the magnetic chemistry more fun as they fall in love and heal each other’s past wounds. This is the slow-burn and soapy goodness soap opera fans crave.
Olivia Applegate plays Rylee Thomas throughout all three seasons of Driven. She’s also known for starring in HBO’s Euphoria and Love and Death. Casey Deidrick initially starred as Colton Donovan in Driven season 1, and he and Olivia possessed sizzling chemistry. Olivia was a fresher face, but Casey was well-known for his work on Days of Our Lives and Eye Candy.
The role of Colton Donovan was recast because Casey Deidrick was cast as Max in The CW’s In the Dark. Soap fans will recognize his replacement, Michael Roark, from The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives. Ironically, they appeared on the same soap opera, about a decade apart. He also hit it off with Olivia, and the sequels continued their love story.
Filming for seasons 2 and 3 occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, so he only worked closely with Olivia, and that experience brought them closer. You can see that on-screen screen connection builds over time.
Be sure to check out this steamy, romantic addition.
