The clue: Beginning in 2023, when the Emmy Award for Best Game Show moved from Daytime to Primetime, all three honors handed out at the Primetime edition of the honors have all gone to this show.
The response: What is Jeopardy?
Correct! Since the Emmys began considering the genre and format of a category rather than just the time of day, Jeopardy has been unstoppable at in the Best Game Show category. And before then, it was the most-winning program in the Daytime version of the category, taking home 19 awards.

And considering that Jeopardy is facing off against the same four competitors it beat last year, that lead seems more than justified. However, a quick look at the episode submissions for the nominees brings to light a small wrinkle in the Jeopardy‘s potential path to a fourth Emmy in a row and an unexpected rival for Ken Jennings… Ken Jennings!
Yes, the nominated host of Jeopardy appeared in the submitted episode for one of the series’s Best Game Show competitors, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The Jimmy Kimmel-hosted trivia competition submitted the 2025 episode featuring Matt Damon and Jennings as paired contestants, who went on to win the million-dollar prize for charity.
Now, Millionaire isn’t exactly lighting up the Gold Derby odds right now (with less than a 1% chance of winning), but if anybody can beat Jeopardy, it’s gotta be Ken Jennings, right?
