Gold Derby is serving up Big Brother 28 spoilers all summer long. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
The last time the Big Brother live feeds went down for three days, Rachel Reilly was controversially eliminated in the White Locust twist and there was absolute chaos in the fandom. After failing to complete a hamster wheel maze, the BB legend said goodbye to her housemates and became the first member of the jury.
Is history about to repeat itself?
Host Julie Chen Moonves revealed at the end of Thursday’s 1,000th episode that the live feeds would be down for the next three days as a Medieval Times-themed twist plays out in secret. Fans on social media are worried the show could be ousting an icon — either Big Brother‘s Angela Murray or Survivor‘s Dee Valladares or Rick Devens — without a proper vote, just like what happened to Rachel.
Here is everything we know so far:
WHEN WILL THE LIVE FEEDS RETURN?

The live feeds will be back on Paramount+ as the conclusion of Sunday’s episode, at approximately 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. They were shut off shortly after Mallory Aurichio’s eviction on Thursday night in order to avoid any spoilers getting out about the latest twist.
Host Julie Chen Moonves encouraged the audience to “put your screens away, go outside, smell the flowers” for the next few days. As of this writing, the live feeds are showing unhoused kitties and puppies in an effort to encourage animal adoptions.
WHAT IS THE MEDIEVAL TWIST?
Julie closed out the last live episode by saying: “The houseguests [will be] transported to Medieval Times. The year? 1,000, of course. This unprecedented twist will challenge the houseguests socially and competitively. There will be no Head of Household, no Veto competition, no Block Buster. But, when all is said and done, someone’s game will come to an end before the next live eviction.”

Julie then revealed a sneak peek of the twist, with former favorites Britney Haynes, Tiffany Mitchell, Keanu Soto, and Cody Calafiore all dressed in Medieval Times costumes. They will play an element in the competition that will determine which members of the house make it to the jury phase. Luckily, there’s no hamster wheel in sight!
THE PRODUCERS SPEAK

At Thursday night’s reception, executive producer Rich Meehan explained how, “In true Big Brother fashion, we are about to embark on a crazy twist tonight and pull an all-nighter after a 1,000th episode and a crazy party. That is why Syd [competition producer Sydney Leier] is incredibly stressed right now, because a monsoon has come in and it’s going to be very challenging for us to play our games tonight.”
Executive producer Allison Grodner thanked Julie, aka “ChenBot,” for her “guidance, professionalism, and friendship” over the past 25 years, and for “being there through high highs, and sometimes lows, and everything in between.” The EP added, “We have seen it all. We have seen history over the course of all of these years, and I look forward to continuing to expect the unexpected with you for many, many more episodes to come.”
When Julie took the microphone, she thanked “the Lord” for knowing that the show would one day hit 1,000 episodes. The host also recognized the three former houseguests who’ve passed away: Cassandra Waldon (Season 1), Kent Blackwelder (Season 2), and Mickey Lee (Season 27). “I want to honor them tonight and say thank you for playing, and I’ll see you when I get up there,” she said while looking skyward.
