On Tuesday’s America’s Got Talent Quarterfinals 2, Thai guitarist and rock vocalist Nene Royal blew the roof off of the auditorium with her cover of Soundgarden’s classic “Black Hole Sun.” The audience demanded that Mel B hit the Golden Buzzer for Nene, which she did, sending her straight through to the Season 21 finals. Now the remaining 10 performers await the results of the overnight vote to determine which three acts will advance to the semifinals.
They are: Spanish singer Bety, sideshow duo Brad & Tracy, vocal duo Butter & Grit, Korean dance group Come Here, magician Geno Ploeger, rapper LaRussell, British singer Mackenzie Sol, vocal duo Nyjah Music & Zyah Rhythm, German dancer Patrox, and acrobat/aerialist Veronika Goroshkova.
AGT host Terry Crews once again joined Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Sofía Vergara at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Simon Cowell was still out of commission due to his back surgery.

How’d it all play out on Wednesday night? Read on for our results recap of America’s Got Talent Quarterfinals 2, which aired Aug. 26 on NBC.
Managing the social media duties for AGT Live this week was Love Island USA‘s Kaylor Martin and The Traitors and Big Brother‘s Dan Gheesling. Kaylor informs Terry that Brad & Tracy were her favorite of the night because they remind her of her own grandparents, even if she would never see her grandpa swallowing a knife. Dan admits to getting “very emotional” when Nene shredded the guitar to one of his favorite songs from the 90s and Mel B giving her the Golden Buzzer.
Looking back on that incredible moment, Nene thanks everyone for their support and expresses pride in herself for the work and practice she put into the performance. She called it a “dream come true” to receive the Golden Buzzer that she didn’t expect.
AGT Season 20 breakout performer Steve Ray Ladson is joined by Robert Randolph for a duet on his track “About to Go Down.” In the second half of the performance, country group The War and Treaty replace Randolph on stage for their upcoming new track “Country Baptism.”
The Top 5
To reveal the acts that polled highest in the overnight vote with the American audience, Terry brings out the 10 acts in pairs where one is eliminated on the spot.
Brad & Tracy vs. Butter & Grit: The up-and-coming country duo bested the comedic variety performers from the Pacific Northwest. Looks like they’ll be eating well tomorrow morning!
LaRussell vs. Veronika Goroshkova: The public preferred the thrilling death drop of Veronika over the high school musical from the Bay Area crew.
Come Here vs. Patrox: Korean dance group Come Here secured their spot in the Top 5 while Patrox is left to walk backwards off the stage and out of the competition.
Nyjah Music & Zyah Rhythm vs. Geno Ploeger: The judges preferred Geno and America agreed, advancing Geno in the competition while sending the music brothers home to gain more experience.
Bety vs. Mackenzie Sol: Between the two solo vocalists from Europe, the one that impressed the voters of America more is UK’s Mackenzie Sol.
To recap, the five acts that are still in the competition at this point are country duo Butter & Grit, aerialist Veronika Goroshkova, dance crew Come Here, magician Geno Ploeger, and singer Mackenzie Sol, but only three of them will make it to the semifinals.
