If you’ve ever wished you could watch a bunch of your favorite (and funny) stars entertain each other for 40 minutes, have we got a treat for you. Over the weekend at Televerse, the stars, writer-director and producer of HBO’s Emmy-nominated dramedy Miss You, Love You gathered for a panel that quickly became an audience favorite of the event.
Gold Derby is proud to present that panel in its entirety here, which features: Jim Rash, Allison Janney, Andrew Rannells and Nat Faxon in top form, talking earnestly about the making of their moving film, laughing through grief, ribbing each other and generally having a great time as a group.
Even without the promise of the panel entertainment, there is a lot to love about the acclaimed TV movie. The plot, loosely inspired by Rash’s own experience, revolves around a grieving widow (Janney) trying to plan her husband’s funeral with unexpected help from her son’s assistant (Rannells), and deftly explores sensitive subject matter with heart, humor and the perfect creative team in front of and behind the camera.
In the video above, you’ll see them discuss the fun and challenges of their nimble 17-day shoot in New Mexico, Janney and Rannells tackling 10-plus pages in one long take, Rash and Faxon’s lasting and successful creative partnership, as well as many, many playful jokes about each other, their most famous/quoted characters and much more.
HBO’s Miss You, Love You is Rash’s solo directorial debut and is nominated for Best Movie.
