A new season of Apple TV‘s Emmy-winning comedy Ted Lasso means new cast members, characters, and new AFC Richmond players.
The first two episodes of Ted Lasso Season 4 saw Ted (Jason Sudeikis) reunite with Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Keeley (Juno Temple), Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Beard (Brendan Hunt), and Higgins (Jeremy Swift). And after his return to Richmond, he finally meets the women’s team, including Coach Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds) and players like Boots (Jude Mack).
Episode 3, “Richmond’s Got Talent,” sees the Lady Greyhounds hold open tryouts to fill out their roster, which means we meet some new MVPs, including Shannon (Shannon Hayes), Gemma (Abbie Hern), and the team’s new center back Lizzie Davis (Faye Marsay).

Who Is Lizzie In Ted Lasso Season 4?
As Decider noted in our Ted Lasso Season 4 review, in addition to being the team’s new center back, Lizzie Davis is a mature single mom who’s balancing her family and her dream like Ted. When Decider chatted with Marsay ahead of Ted Lasso‘s Season 4 premiere, here’s what she had to say about Lizzie and her Season 1 journey.
“I think as we go along it’s that conversation between how you have children and how you maintain your athletic career. I think it’s shedding light on how difficult it can be for women, and that they’re perhaps less supported, and it’s a more difficult thing at the moment that needs to get better,” Marsay told DECIDER. “She definitely is the mama bear, but I think we wanna move her away from that, and she needs to find her own identity in football, and the passion she has that isn’t just being a mother.”
In Season 4 production notes, Marsay explained, “Lizzie’s someone who loves football so much she’s willing to fight for a place in it, even when life’s pulling her in a hundred different directions. She’s a mother, she’s a leader, and she doesn’t always get it right, but she shows up and gives everything she’s got.”

Lizzie Davis on Ted Lasso is played by Faye Marsay, a 39-year-old English actor with nearly 30 film and TV credits.
You may recognize Marsay from The White Queen, Doctor Who, Fresh Meat, Love, Nina, Black Mirror, Bancroft, McMafia, Deep Water, Avocado Toast, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Ten Pound Poms, and more. The Ted Lasso star is also well-known for her roles as DS Misha Frank in the award-winning Adolescence, Vel Sartha in Andor, and The Waif in Game of Thrones.
Marsay has a history of stage work and has starred in productions like Europe and Road. And like a number of Ted Lasso Season 4 stars, Marsay was also a soccer fan who played for years growing up.
