Universal Pictures is celebrating The Fast and The Furious franchise on its 25th anniversary with a special screening.
Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Paul Walker’s daughter Meadow were in attendance to watch a special screening of the 2001 film.
Directed by Rob Cohen, with a screenplay by Gary Scott Thomson, Erik Berquist and David Ayer, The Fast and the Furious was the beginning of a global franchise.

Following the success of the first film, 2 Fast 2 Furious premiered in 2003 with John Singleton directing the film. A third installment, titled The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, premiered in 2006 with Justin Lin as director.
Lin would continue directing the franchise with Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), and Fast & Furious 6 (2013).
James Wan took over directing duties in 2015’s Furious 7. In 2017, The Fate of the Furious premiered with F. Gary Gray directing.
David Leitch directed a Fast & Furious spinoff titled Hobbs & Shaw in 2019, with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham starring.

Lin returned to direct F9 in 2029, and Louis Leterrier directed Fast X in 2023.
Fast Forever is set to premiere on March 17, 2028, with Leterrier directing. The film is reportedly the last one in the franchise with Diesel reprising his role of Dominic Toretto.
Diesel recently praised the script for the latest installment, sharing on Instagram, “You have no idea… When March 17th 2028 comes… you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theaters this summer. I just read the Fast Forever script by Mike Leslie. It is the best script I have read in decades. I am still crying.”
