After a months long blackout, Comcast Xfinity customers now have access to NFL Network and NFL RedZone again, just in time for the 2026/27 football season.
A Comcast spokesperson told Cord Cutters News: “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with The Walt Disney Company to bring NFL Network to our customers in time for the start of the preseason games and to offer NFL RedZone Channel at the beginning of the regular season.”
The blackout began on April 30, following the expiration of a distribution deal after ESPN acquired NFL Network and other assets from the NFL.
At that time, Comcast said that Disney, the parent company of ESPN, was demanding double the fees without making any updates to programming, along with requiring additional channels to be included in the deal, which Comcast didn’t believe its customers would have any interest in watching or paying for.
Disney responded, claiming that an offer was made for the channels to continue be available to Comcast Xfinity customers while the companies negotiated, but Comcast refused and took down the channels.
As the blackout continued into July, pressure built on both sides with the beginning of the season approaching. Finally, customers can rest assured that they’ll get access to live football coverage, highlights, behind the scenes looks, player interviews, commentary, and more football content at the start of the season.
