The Happy Madison cinematic universe continues to expand on Netflix. As cameras roll on the highly anticipated Grown Ups 3, Netflix just confirmed a trio of major new cast members joining the beloved comedy franchise: Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, and Bailee Madison.
As we noted earlier this year, the Grown Ups franchise officially made the jump from Sony Pictures Entertainment to Netflix back in May. Now, the gang is officially back together, with production kicking off earlier this week in New Jersey.
But while the core crew is returning, it’s the new additions to the ensemble that have us most excited today.
Making their franchise debuts in Grown Ups 3 are:
- Julie Bowen – Best known for her Emmy-winning run on Modern Family, Bowen is no stranger to the Sandman, having famously starred opposite him in 1996’s Happy Gilmore.
- Deon Cole – The hilarious stand-up comedian and actor (Black-ish, The Harder They Fall) will be stepping into the Happy Madison universe for the first time.
- Bailee Madison – The Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin star is also reuniting with Sandler, having previously played his faux-daughter in the 2011 hit Just Go with It.
Details regarding who the new trio will be playing are currently being kept under wraps.
The Original Gang is Back (Yes, Including Rob Schneider!)
If you were worried that moving to streaming meant leaving some of the original cast behind, fear not.
Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and David Spade are all set to return as leads. Furthermore, after sitting out of Grown Ups 2, Rob Schneider is officially back in the fold as Rob Hilliard.
They’ll be joined by returning franchise leads Salma Hayek Pinault, Maya Rudolph, and Maria Bello.
So, what is the gang up to this time? With the film currently filming, we’ve got a brand new logline that teases an international trip for the crew:
“Now that their kids are all grown up, the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure.”
Speaking of the kids being all grown up, the feder, Lamonsoff, McKenzie, and Hilliard children are officially adults. Rounding out the cast of returning “kids” are Jake Goldberg, Alexys Nycole Sanchez, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Ada-Nicole Sanger, Morgan Gingerich, Kaleo Elam, Nadji Jeter, David Mattle, and Kamil McFadden.
Happy Madison productions are famous for their stacked supporting benches, and Grown Ups 3 is bringing back a slew of fan favorites. Jackie Sandler, Shaquille O’Neal, Colin Quinn, Tim Meadows, Cheri Oteri, Ellen Cleghorne, and Nick Swardson are all confirmed to return.
Who is behind Grown Ups 3 on Netflix?
Kyle Newacheck is in the director’s chair for the threequel. Newacheck is a familiar face at Happy Madison, having previously directed Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Netflix’s massive hit Murder Mystery.
The script was penned by Sandler and his long-time creative partner Tim Herlihy.
Producers on the project include Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Jack Giarraputo, and Tim Herlihy for Happy Madison. The expansive list of executive producers includes Fred Wolf, Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, Jackie Shenoo, Aidan Elliott, Kristen Ploucha, and Sarah Sarandos.
According to production listings, filming officially began on August 3rd, 2026, and is scheduled to run through October 14th, 2026. While they are currently shooting in New Jersey, production will also be heading overseas to Italy (and a few other places if our intel is correct)—which certainly lines up with that “ultimate adventure” teased in the logline!
Yesterday, Morris Town, New Jersey, spotted the production at Rod’s Steak & Seafood inside The Madison Hotel in NJ, with an additional update today of Kevin James and Sandler at Coniglio’s.
